dual stage ferm chamber heat idea

Okay, I guess you should not use a space heater if you store newspaper in your fermentation chamber. I use one in my ferm chamber and the heater is never on for more than 30 seconds at a time to keep whatever is inside at 68°F.

    Yeast from local micro brewery

I would think that if you put it in the fridge and used a small starter there should be more than enough yeast to make a 5 gallon batch.

    What could I make?

I have recently been given access to a CNC Plasma table. So what brewing related things can I make? Give me some ideas.

    DIY temp controller build

That should work fine. I like what junkster said about using W and Y rather than G for the 2 SSR controller.

My so easy anyone can do it tower build.

Less volume, same mass. Conservation of mass holds everywhere outside of a nuclear reactor. Over time smaller molecules (like helium) can escape from a balloon but CO2 is much larger the helium. Also 2 hours would not be enough time for a significant amount of anything to escape through a...

    DIY temp controller build

Well the power goes through the relays and then into the thermostat but yes you seem to get the idea. You would not want Rh and Rc jumped. Just do it like the wiring diagram above but where his says Hout and Cout you would use Rh and Rc and then the return wire would be on G, all the return is...

My so easy anyone can do it tower build.

Pv=RT is the same equation just uses the specific volume and the predetermined gas constant for whatever gas you choose to use. There are many forms of the ideal gas approx. They are all the same equation manipulated to fit the needs of different fields. In fluids we used P=ρRT where...

    DIY temp controller build

The other outlet will likely be used to power the transformer. On my thermostat the RH and RC were the power for heat cycle and power for cooling cycle respectively. The way I wired mine was to put a jumper between the RH and RC. Then bring the + side of the transformer through the relay...

My so easy anyone can do it tower build.

PV=RT R and V are held constant. So as T increases P increases, therefore increasing amount of time that the pressure inside of the canister remains high enough to be usable. Even though this is using the ideal gas approximation and real CO2 is not an ideal gas the trend still holds.

    DIY temp controller build

I have built a very similar unit as the one showed here. I do not believe that a heat sink is required in this situation because of the rather low current being drawn through the SSR as well as the fact that the SSR is designed to be cycled much more frequently then this application would call...

    Are You Saving Money?

Why? Do they go bad? I still haven't bought one yet. I think that I will buy one on my next purchase from Northern Brewer though. The reason I got into home brewing was to save money. I am fairly confident that I save quite a bit of money. For me to buy the same amount of beer in six packs as...

3 gal BPA free water jugs

I dont think that I saw BPA free on the bottom of it anywhere and it said #2. It also said something about being approved by somebody. I had to pick up a full fermenter to look so I didnt inspect it very well.

3 gal BPA free water jugs

I have been using the 5 gallon version of this for 3 brews now. The top has about a 1/2 inch hole in it that I find perfect for a blow off tube. The only bad part is that the bottom of the handle indentation is difficult to get clean. I paid 12 dollars for mine and it came full of water.

    Bottling into growlers?

Ive bottled into a growler on my first two brews. The growler I have is from Freestate Brewing company and seems to be made of glass that is much thicker than the bottles I've been using. I also go to the brewery and get a few new caps each time before I bottle so that I have the best seal...
