    Yea it was extract, sorry. Mr. Malty says it would take 1.2 packets of Saf-05.... Damn I'm right on the threshold

    I'm brewing 5 gallons, just took the hydrom. reading and I got an OG 1.074. Is that too high for one package of Saf-05? Yeah I have thought about it, I just need to read a little more and pull the trigger on actually doing it....

    My fermentation temp was kept pretty steady, is the beer as sensitive to temps once it's been bottled. Will a ten degree swing kill shock the yeast for carbonation?

    I'm a noob brewing my first batch (triple hopped ale), and I'm almost ready to bottle. The problem/question I have is my house is a cold house, at 62 degrees. I'm wondering if this is too cold for bottle storage preventing carbonation? Has anyone stored their newly bottled stuff around these...

    "You say 'siphon' but mention using the valve. Those aren't the same thing. I personally don't use the valve when transferring." Yea I meant just attaching a hose to the valve, rather than actually siphoning, sorry.

    I'm brewing my first batch (triple hopped ale), in a Williams fermentor with the spout at the bottom. One week into fermentation I used the spout to take out some beer for a hydrometer reading. -Is the residue beer that is now on the spout a potential issue for bacteria when I siphon it out...
