    1st place in competition!

    And then I found out there were only 3 entries. I'm significantly less proud now than when I found out I won :( LHBS put on a stout competition and my beer won with a score of 35. Yes I know, a good score, but I was hoping for a bit more competition to see how my beer stacked up...Oh well...

    Barleywine advice

    So 6 days ago I brewed a 4 gallon batch of English Barleywine, recipe below. I had planned on step feeding with 1 lb of corn sugar in order to make sure I hit my FG, but my slurry of 1028 already overshot my FG and I'm worried if I add the corn sugar as planned I'll dry it out too much...

    Stop eyeballing me, bottling crab!

    OK, who else has noticed that your capper looks a little like a crab. Two beedy little eyes on top and a mouth that is strangely magnetic. Anyone else talk to their bottling crab? Just me? OK! :drunk:

    First three labels

    First ever homebrew! Inspired by my friend's love of pumpkin beers 2 Below clone attempt SWMBO does the label design...I brew the beer :rockin: Have been printing the labels onto regular computer paper with a laser printer and using a glue stick to attach them. Works great.

    Fermcap-s: Am I expecting too much?

    Saturday, I brewed a Belgian Blond (OG 1.066) with a 1.5 L starter of Wyeast 3522 Belgian Ardennes pitched 20hrs after making up starter. Batch size was 5.25g. Fermented at 64* in a 6g Better Bottle. Did not use a blowoff, although typically I would have, because I was using Fermcap (1st...
