    Quick carbing a keg

One good thing to do is make sure the beer is really cold before you burst carb it. It absorbs a lot faster. +1 on using the beer out side to carbonate. It's better to run it through and let it be absorbed on its way up to the top of the keg.

    How to clean hoses...

Kyle, Don't confuse cleaning and sanitizing. The Oxyclean cleans and Star san sanitizes. It is important to do both but if you rinse the thief well enough right after you use it then you don't have to go through the whole process. The Oxyclean is great because it breaks up the caked on malt...

    Brewhemoth conicals?

I'm about to purchase a Brewhemoth and the only thing holding me back is how I'm going to clean it. I was wondering if anyone had tried the Original Sanke Keg and Large Carboy Cleaner? It seams like it would work and I would not have to use 20 gallons of Oxy. Then I could spray it down with...

    Keggle Drilling Help

I have drilled many holes using a small titanium bit and following it up with a step bit. The step bit makes a perfect hole and takes no time at all to get through the stainless. I think the one I bought cost about 40 bucks but you can probably find a cheaper one. I knew I would be using mine...

    CO2 Outside Chest freezer

Just drill the hole and buy a grommet at Home Depot. Then run the hose through wherever you want. Rememebr to size up your hole after you buy the grommet so that it isn't too big. Bring some of whatever hose you are going to use with you to Home Depot make sure that it will go through snug.

    One hop rhizome DOA

I am extremely concerned after reading this thread. How are you guys seeing sprouts already. I did not even get my zomes from Morebeer until last week. How long should I expect it to break ground? I dropped them into the mounds I made and covered with one inch as instructed. I have watered...

    Free Rhizomes

My guess is that you are going to Europe to learn and be Mentored on the european method of Hop growing and you are bringing back some sample rhizomes in which you will have some extras to give away. So I'm going with Bavaria. Actually I'm not sure if that will work because you can't bring...

    Dry hop suggestions

Out of the three you mentioned, cascade would be the best for dry hopping. Centennial is more of a bittering but I'm currently using it to dry hop a Rye P.A. In this case I had about an once left over from the package and was too lazy to reseal. I guess I will see real soon how it will turn out.

Any good use for a 7.75gal pony keg?

I would not recommend making a keggle out of it. I have one and have done about 12 brews in it. I am now working on a 1/2 keg conversion because there just doesn't seem to be enough room in the 1/4 Keggle. Just my opinion...

Joe, Don't spare the Amarillo, they are way too good! If you need some more they have them at Freshops. I just got a pound delivered yesterday.:ban:

Garden hose water... how bad is it?

I don't know man... It doesn't say anything about drinking the water out of that thing. You could get the white neverkink for a few dollars more and not have to deal with it. I have been using mine for awhile now and it doesn't change the flavor of the water at all. They sell them at...

Do you let IPA's breathe before drinking??

If you like piney then try a stone IPA. It's one of my favorites however, as stated earlier you may want to start out lighter. Maybe a Longhammer IPA.

    New brewer in Cary, NC

Does anybody know if that was the Wachovia at Parkway Pointe? I used to live 5 minutes from there. Do you guys remember the Jewelery Heist that ended with the guys hiding out in Cary? The guy was hiding out in my Uncle's backyard! this kind of stuff never happens in Cary. Or better yet...

Best bang for the buck kettle?

I have been looking at austinhomebrew. They have a 61qt Premium Stock Pot that I have my eye on for $142.99. I already have the valve and sightglass so I'm looking at making one of these my own. I like them because they are short so it will take up less room vertically on my Top Tier. I am...

When to add wort for yeast step up?

I'm not sure what your asking when you say "care to point to any of that research". Since my work isn't published I suppose you would have had to be standing next to me to view the results. As far as the olive oil goes I would not recommend it when your fermenting but putting a drop in your...

When to add wort for yeast step up?

From the research I have done I would recommend to add at high krausen. Also, I have heard from some old salts that adding a drop of olive oil to your starter gives it oxygen. Like jeffmeh I have no scientific proof. Just tribal knowledge.
