    strange looking secondary

I racked my Fuggle's IPA to secondary last Saturday night and noticed the same thing on mine. I think it's just co2 collecting on the surface, but it's only my third batch and my first time racking to a secondary :) -pete-

Anyone use this stuff? - (Steramine)

I found a bottle of steramine sanitizing tables at the local GFS marketplace store the other day. Does anyone have experience using this for sanitizing bottles? Here's a link to the same stuff...http://www.sanitize.com/ Thanks! -pete-

    Did I kill my yeast?

Checked this morning and I could tell that there was some pressure building in the airlock. Got home from work and lot's of bubbles and thick foam layer! Once again, just need to be patient. BTW, here's the recipe I used: American Pale Ale (5 gallons): 6lbs Golden DME .5 lbs Crystal 10L...

    Did I kill my yeast?

Howdy, I finally started my second batch last night, a basic APA. I picked up all my ingredients from my LBS and got White Labs California Ale Yeast in the pitchable liquid vial thing. After the wort was cooled and well aerated, i took the vial out of the fridge, shook it up and poured it...

When does the beer start tasting good?

I found myself just sitting on my closet floor looking at my fermenter and enjoying the sights/sounds of yeast going at it. I remember thinking "man, I must be a nerd, I'm sitting on the floor watching beer ferment". Glad to see I'm not alone.:drunk: -pete-

    Plastic (polycarb?) carboy for secondary?

Ok, I'm convinced. The more I think about it, this is one area where being "thrifty" just probably isn't worth it. I will just convince SWMBO that a glass carboy is something else that IS required. Thanks guys! -pete-

    Plastic (polycarb?) carboy for secondary?

Hi all! In the interest of being thrifty, is a 5 gallon plastic carboy from the office watercooler acceptable as a secondary fermenter? The bottom of the bottle is stamped with a 7 in the little triangle thing and says "OTHER PC" under it. I know it's not the best choice for a primary, but I...

    Hello from Tampa

Hi, Just wanted to say hello. I'm from the Tampa Bay area and just started my first batch of beer last night via a Coopers micro brewery kit. I did a bunch of research and felt that for the price and whats included it was the best deal to get started. I'm sure I'll be adding to it in the...
