Used bourbon barrels in Lexington/Louisville Area?

I'll be driving up to the Lexington/Lousiville area doing the Kentucky Bourbon Trail with some buddies at the end of March. Anybody have any suggestions on where I could pick up a 15-30 gallon used bourbon barrel?

Old Ale: 100% Brett L or Ringwood Ale + Brett L?

I'm currently brewing up the 11-11-11 Gun Stock Old Ale. Wyeast Old Ale Blend wasn't available, so I ad-libed and picked up some Ringwood Ale and some Brett L. I made a decent starter of each, so there is plenty to go around. I'm planning on splitting the bach, and doing 100% Ringwood in...

    Foamy beer from sanke keg

Help me diagnose my issue: I received a 2nd hand kegerator (tower, tap, and all) but the fridge doesn't exactly work. That's not my problem, I can work with that. However, I pulled all the business parts for the tap out and took it to a picnic. The keg was in a trashcan of ice, the tower...

    Adding Honey To Secondary Question

So I've brewed up my first sour. It's been in the fermenter for about 2 weeks, and now I'm going to add about 1.5 lbs of honey. I've never added honey before, so I have a question. Honey is quite viscous. How do you ensure it mixes well into the beer in secondary? My thought was to boil...

Saflager W34/70 suggestion and reusing lager yeast question

So.... Brewed my first lager about two months ago, and it's getting close to time to bottle. I have two questions: 1)Given 2 months of lagering, I'm assuming the yeast cake is still viable to reuse for another lager much as we all do with ale yeast. Am I correct? 2)Saflager W34/70: I...

    Too much of one ingredient

So, this is mostly me ranting about my own lack of foresight. I've had a couple weeks off, so I've been brewing a bit, and man, I really didn't plan ahead. If I brew ONE MORE BREW with CHOCOLATE MALT I'm going to jump off a building. I'm already tired of this flavor and I haven't even tasted...

0-30 PSI burner VS 20 PSI w/ "brass control valve"

I need to replace the regulator on my old propane burner. I'm looking at either a 0-30 PSI regulator with the only adjustment being with the pressure or A fixed 20 psi regulator with the bayou "brass control valve" I'm leaning towards the 0-30 psi adjustable regulator, but my...

Help cooling a cellar: need to cool by 10 degrees for cheapish

I'm converting the closet under my stairs into a cellar. Approximately 75 to 100 cubic feet. It shares an outside wall, partially underground. I'd like to cool it down. I'm looking for something that wouldn't take up too much space and if possible I'd like to keep it under $300. Any ideas?
