What do you think of this set up (fryer)

I actually use that set up for brewing beer. I would definitely recommend it. The pot is obviously large enough for full boils with some room to spare to prevent boil overs. The major drawback to the set up is that it is over engineered from a safety stand point. It has a thermo sensor that...

    Copper vs. SS Wort Chiller

It's true that copper has a much higher thermal heat transfer coefficient than SS. However that coefficient is just one piece of the equation that determines how well/quickly heat is transferred. One other very important factor is the thickness of the metal. Obviously a very thin piece of SS...

    Adding pumpkin!

Yet another way you could do it: I used 3 cans and baked them as described above. I put half of it in at the beginning of the boil and the other half with 15 minutes to go.

    Midwest Pumpkin Ale Kit

Update: I bottled the Pumpkin Ale after 5 weeks in the fermenter. The brew looks, smells, and tastes fantastic. There was a good amount of trub in the bottom of the fermenter so I only got 46 bottles out of it. I will strain it better next time when tranfering from the brew kettle. Another...

Nice. I'm brand new as well. My second brew is in the fermenter now and I'm ready to start #3. I can't believe how addicting this hobby is.

    When to add pumpkin

I did not use a muslin bag. I just added the pumpkin directly into the boiling water.
