I know this is probably crazy, but..

Ahhh, bummer. I'm still bottling. Well, onto Christmas then. (I better get moving!)

I know this is probably crazy, but..

Is there any beer I could brew and be ready by Thanksgiving? Well, the Sunday after? Yes, talk about procrastinating..I'm terrible at it. At this point I don't care if it's a porter, wheat, whatever. Bonus would be if it could be "holiday" in nature...maybe a hefe with cranberry? I've...

    Trader Joes Vintage Ale 2009

I thought it was fantastic. A friend of ours bought it last year at Christmas and opened it a few weekends ago on our annual camping trip. One of the better beers I've had all year! I'm looking forward to this year's recipe.

Want to add Honey to my Hefe extract kit

All I know is this: I made an extract hefe kit a few weeks ago and bottled today. The taste resembled honey very much, and I added none to my batch. (I fermented high--couldn't get it much colder than 72 with this ridiculous summer heat we've had) Of course, that's today and it hasn't had...

Holy sweet mother of all that is alcohol. Woodchuck Fall Seasonal?

I had the summer seasonal a few weeks ago..it was good, but not great. I'd like to try the fall stuff!

Thoughts on a Caramel Apple Pie Ale

Have you seen Midwest's kit for Apple Ale? That's what I'm brewing next; maybe you could look there for inspiration? (It is extract, but I believe they have an AG version as well)

    Brat Brew

I was going to suggest an amber, a brown ale, or even a APA. I think really anything besides a spiced or fruit beer would be just fine, though!

    Spiced Rum Cider Recipe

Sounds like a good drink to have whilst walking around with the kiddos trick-or-treating! Yum!

    Ideas for avocados?

Grill a chicken breast with cumin and cayenne, as the chicken finishes up add a slice of monterey jack cheese and a few slices of avocado. Come to think of it, a tomato would be good too. (It'd all be great on a nice crusty bun, but you said low carb!)

    Top 5 Beers!

PBR definitely comes in bottles. You can get PBR light, too. As for it being a premium beer, ehh. I think Kid Rock has brought it back for the younger crowd. I think it's disgusting. (And I don't mind cheap beer! High Life is my fave in that category) I'm fairly new to good beer. For a...

I'd like to add a fruit to my Hefe kit

Another question: I have this bottle(a little more than a quart) of peach nectar sitting in my fridge...we'll never drink it. Think it would work? It says it contains 45% juice, and the ingredients are water, peach puree, sugar. I've already brewed the beer, it's in the primary with a...

I'd like to add a fruit to my Hefe kit

n00b question: what defines quality yeast? The kit came with Munich, is that quality enough?

I'd like to add a fruit to my Hefe kit

Thanks for the replies! Still don't know what I'm gonna do. ;) Berries sound good, oranges/clementines sound good too! Also may leave as is, since I've never brewed a hefe before. Wishing I had yet another carboy so I could do a half plain, half fruit batch to see what I prefer. I know I'll...

Worst Commercial Beer You've Ever Had?

Oh boy. I've had some bad beer in my day...it wasn't even til recently-ish that I knew what good beer was! (And by good beer, I mean Amber Bock and Killian's) ;) Steel Reserve and Mickey's come to mind for sure. Any ice beer is rotten. Red Dog? I remember people in high school that...

Looks like we're a popular bunch here! :) I'm Casey, brand new to home brewing(have done 4 batches, all kits) and LOVING every second of it! I've been reading over the forums for weeks and finally decided to jump in. Can't wait to get to know all of you better and make some great...

I'd like to add a fruit to my Hefe kit

I don't have a particular fruit in mind, thinking along the lines of a berry of some kind. When should I add it? Should it be fresh? Frozen? An extract? I don't want an overpowering fruit flavor...just a little hint of it would be good. Also, the dude at our local brew supply shop said...
