First Flanders - The plan and questions

I guess I will just use the cakes for my next batch which will be used for blending. I was just wondering if there is a reason that they "traditionally" rack to secondary other than to use the yeast for your next batch?

First Flanders - The plan and questions

I did 10 gallons of flanders red using Roeselare WLP-550. in 2 different glass carboys Is there a need to transfer to secondary? I was planning on adding the oak chips to my primary after about 3 weeks. at that time i will take the airlock off and switch to an oak bung. From my...

    Sierra nevada torpedo clone

When I do my IPA's I usually add half my DME at first boil and then I add the rest at about 20 minutes. It helps on keeping a lighter color. More of a "west coast" IPA

    Constantly finishing under my FG

well it's calibrated at 64 deg my initial readings are taked at 65-70 deg and final readings are taken at 65 deg. I do not see any need to take into account 1-5 deg difference when I am seeing such a huge difference in FG. if I were withing .004 i wouldn't have givin it much thought but I...

Skeeter Pee - Starting with Dry Yeast

I had no problems whatsoever getting my pee to ferment. here is what I did a little differently than the original recipe - did not let it sit for 2 days - added only 1 bottle of Real Lemon on the first day - added the 2nd bottle on the 2nd day - used 2 packs of EC-1118 ( put in 90 deg...

    Constantly finishing under my FG

So I only have 5 batches of extract brewing under my belt. And I am constantly finishing under my suggested final gravity. Is there a reason that this would be happening? I have been right on my SG. I usually end up with a hair under 5 gallons come bottleing time. I do 2.5 gallon boils and top...
