Bottled my first brew this weekend. India Pale Ale.

I racked to a bottling vessel to eliminate the sediment at the bottom of the secondary. My siphoning techniques are still in the development stage.

Bottled my first brew this weekend. India Pale Ale.

Bottling is a bit of a pain in my kludged-together beer brewing area, but when the home wet-bar is completed it will be just grand. Having done it the clunky way I've already come up with some labour saving ideas for how to design the wet bar area to inlcude easier siphoning and bottling of...

Innagural Brew - India Pale Ale

Just Racked to Seconday today! Woohoo. 2 weeks until bottling time. I got a "Little Bit" of yeast from the primary in the racking. I may get a secondary fermentation..... Smelled good. Looks good. Tastes good. It just might be good?

Alright, one more kick at the cat. Since it's probable that I'll be using recycled grolsch bottles, I decided that a bottle-neck label might be more practical. Here's a sketch of that.

Many Small Brews, or Few Big Brews?

Question: As a "new" brewer, I have grandiose dreams and schemes and would like to brew just a hundred different varieties of beer right away so I can try and taste and decide on the ones I really like. (I also want to create an online catalogue of the recipes I've tried, or others have...

Innagural Brew - India Pale Ale

Sorry, Chemical X was bentonite, a clearing agent. I didn't rinse it out of the carboy as instructions said to leave it in. Note: It was a Baron's Pour & Pitch kit. The most simplistic form of home brew I imagine, but it was a great way to get started quick and a good kit for a newbie to...

Innagural Brew - India Pale Ale

I'm happy to announce the inception of Prairie Brew. On Sunday, October 29 we began our first brew. My wife came with me to the Local Home Brew Shop, and after much humming and hawing (to her chagrin) we came home with a list of supplies and one single beer kit. We purchased an India Pale Ale...

Ayup Wheat King. You have a good idea for details that make the graphic work. I hadn't planned to work so hard on this today at work but the feedback here has been great from all of you.

Feedback appreciated, Wheat King. I have created another sketch based on some of your comments.... STill playing with the 'clean and simple' look, however, as I don't want to stray too far from the original prototype.

I think this is the final draft. Its simple and clean and I like it that way so I'm not going to play much more with it.

    Hello from Canuckistan

Calgary AB. Yah, the Betterbeer.com pricing were just estimates for my local shopping trips. We have a wealth of home brew stores around, so I'm going to be checking some out 'tween now and the holidays to find one that I like, who has a reasonably good selection of extract/grain supplies...

    Hello from Canuckistan

First, allow me to take a moment to introduce myself. I'm a happy Canuck who has been wanting to take on a home brew setup for quite some time, but have never had room for it. SWMBO and I have recently moved into a new house, and we're in the process of finishing our basement, in which I'll...
