I tried to run it in compatibility mode, and it did not work either.....

Promash Error "Bad or Missing File" - HELP!!!

I don't think that is the issue because I uninstalled and then reinstalled. I then ran the exe from the new file location on my hard-drive. I have switched to a Windows 7 computer, so I'm thinking it has something to do with that. However, Windows 7 has been out for a while, so it seems...

Promash Error "Bad or Missing File" - HELP!!!

I have searched the forums, and I didn't see a solution for this. I went to open Promash last week, and I received an error before it would open stating "Bad or Missing File". I uninstalled and reinstalled the program with no success. On the Promash message boards, there are others dealing...

The most efficient way to cool wort

+1 on the pond pump. I live in the south and 80 F tap water is not unheard of, so it is a struggle to get the wort below 85 F with it 100 F outside. I now put a few butter dishes of water in the freezer the day before I brew. Then, I dump that ice into a bucket with enough water to cover my...

    storing corny kegs?

For what it's worth, I have 5 kegs and no manifold. I have never kept the gas connected to my kegs unless I was dispensing for a party. I simply charge my kegs to 30 psi for 48 hours. Then, I drop the pressure to about 12 to 13 psi, and I charge my kegs once or twice a week. This is enough...

    Plate chiller

I assume that your sanitizer is a "no-rinse" version. If that is the case, then it is expected that you'll have a little in your batch. Try to think of it in terms of relative volume. 1/4 cup = 2 oz. Total volume is 640 oz for a 5 gallon batch, so you are in the 0.3% range. Even if you had...

    AG cooler first time....

I don't fly, and I only do single infusion mashes, and I end up with excellent beer. I wouldn't sweat the multi-step and fly sparging on your first batch, but hey, that's just my opinion. My basic understanding is you would want to do them if: A) protein rest - Are you really concerned...

    Recipies please?

Yooper's Stone Ruination Clone is excellent! I wouldn't call it citrusy, but it is an outstanding example of the style. Packed with flavor and hops.....what more could you ask for? You will not regret brewing this recipe!!! https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f69/stone-ruination-clone-155771/

    Chilling wort in hot weather.

I use an immersion chiller to get the temp down to 100 F with my tap water. Then, I place some ice in a bucket with a little water and circulate that through my immersion coil with a $10 pond pump from Harbor Freight. It pumps the water terribly slow, but it absolutely cools the wort quickly...

3 Q's - One step sanitizer, rubber stopper, and recipe

I think the pumpkin pie idea is a great one, so don't start kicking yourself. In fact, I would guess that it would impart some pretty cool flavors. You may be on to something here. I can't wait to hear how it turns out.

Just cracked my 1st 2 HB beers

Give it some time. I have had them seem flat for over 4 weeks but then turn out fine. Let one sit in the fridge for at least 2 weeks.

Yet another beginner thread, but this time about bare bones.

I, too, am a stingy brewer, so I can appreciate where you're coming from. I suggest getting one more bucket with a spigot. It will be worth the $20 and the convenience. The bottle filling end with tubing is also a no-brainer. Ruining your beer is not worth $50, and you can always sell your...

can i add things to the primary?

I have dry hopped in the primary (I never secondary.....unless you count kegs). I also have added Belgian Candy sugar and licorice (in different beers not together) in the primary as well. They have all come out great.

    Burner: Bayou SP10, KAB4, or KAB6???

Man, I hate to hear that you had problems with yours. The paint definitely does flake off on the first use, but that doesn't affect the performance. The burner absolutely kicks butt, and I have used mine for big crawfish boils as well. I wouldn't even consider another option at this point...

Going AG Need Some Guideance with Equipment

I use my kettle as my HLT. I sparge my cooler mash tun with water from my kettle. Then, I use a CPVC manifold in the bottom of the mash tun to drain it into a bucket (my spare fermenter bucket). I mash out with water from kettle. While I am draining the tun, I heat up the sparge water in the...

AG brew day in less than 3 hours... possible?

I have never beat 4.5 hours if including cleanup and cooling. But, I have never experimented with shorter mash and sparge times. I sort of stick to the basic rules on those things.

    Burner: Bayou SP10, KAB4, or KAB6???

HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Bayou Classic SP-1 which is the jet cooker. I have had it since I started AG, and it is incredible. It will boil 5 gallons from 80 F in about 10 minutes. It will bring 5 gallons from the mash tun to a boil in 5 minutes easy. I have never had a problem with scorching...

Building a Mash Tun. SS Braid or Manifold?

I went with a CPVC manifold. Temp range is fine, cheap to build, and cleanup is a breeze. I didn't glue it, and I can take it apart after every brew to really flush/clean it out. I get it to stick together by just pushing them together nice and tight.

    Baby Diapers and Homebrew

The only issue with babies and brewing is that babies really cut into your brew budget. In all seriousness, I have twin 9 month olds, and we fly through packs of diapers like crazy. I maintain a constant flow through the fermenters.
