Hey guys! Sorry I havent been on here in a while. There is a homebrew club in Springfield called the Beerknobbers. You can join the google groups page and attend any meeting the third tuesday of every month. Ive been a member about a year now and I like it a lot, good people. Also lots of beer...
That reminds me of protein coagulating or hot/cold break material but that should all be left in the bottom of the primary, it settles out fast. Did you use gelatin or any type of clarifying agent when you bottled? Regardless what it is it will probably drop out completely once theyve chilled...
Just got my results! Entered it in 3B oktoberfest and it did really well. Average score of 40. 3/4 judges noted the over the top munich and vienna characteristics which looking at the recipe an trying the beer I have to agree but it I like it. 1 judge liked the grist and gave me a 47...
That recipe looks a lot like the munich madness recipe I just made 5 pilsner 4 munich 3 vienna 12 oz crystal 60 for 5 gallons. If that last bottle you poured got lots of air in the line thats probably all it is :) i agree cardboard is oxidized
Hey everyone, I was wondering if I could get a little help determining what style of beer this is. I made an Oktoberfest with ale yeast and there is a competition in a month I would like to enter it in. Im not sure where to put it im sure it would get knocked some points for ale character...
There is a recipe on here called cream of three crops. Its great when mowing, is crisp clean and very drinkable but my favorite lawnmower beer is SNPA or my clone pale ale ice cold. I love the american hops and cut grass smell. Generally though when camping/canoeing/swimming I drink Bud...
Maybe without the fan, you want to keep that layer of co2 above the beer. Have you watched BrewingTVs episode on this? It got me interested in trying it too, good info and entertaining.
Well if you used soft copper its easy to change but to me it makes sense for the coils to reach the top. If you can stack them and reach the top of the wort then that would be fine, the more contact area the better right? I have to spread mine maybe 3/4 an inch.
I took 3 gallons of welchs white grape peach and 12 pounds clover honey and she really likes a glass or 2. I stopped ferment at 1.02 and its way too sweet for me but it goes over well for most others but if i do it again will back sweeten.
All done! I used a 12v power supply and 25 ohm rheostat. It doesnt work too well with a plain glass and bolt but my flask and stir bar are otw. The leds change color too.
I am having a little trouble understanding how to wire up my stir plate, I've seen plenty diagrams I'm just not sure how to apply them to what I'm doing. I have a 12v power supply that is AC but I believe it has a DC adapter (Its a little inline plug?) and a 12v computer fan. I also want to...
Well I'm about done and I got it wired to a power source but it's only 5 volts. The fan is 12V, it spins but not much. I have a 12V suppy I can use and it has a switch built in! but I heard 6V is just right. Should I try to find a 6V or use a 12V and a rheostat
This is my hop garden, doing pretty well for the most part Im really excited to use them on a batch. These are second year Nugget, Cascade, Williamette, and Mt. Hood left to right. Little willy :(
I agree this site and the members have been invaluable!!! I spend most of my days reading posts on here :D I have learned so much from HBT Going on my third year of brewing and am as knowledgeable as many of the local homebrewers. I don't only attribute this to my extreme homebrew addiction...
I'm looking forward to when my keg is kicked actually I'm trying very hard to empty it! :drunk: I have 10 gallons ready to keg and 5 gallons I need to bottle with only 20 empty bottles. So I am trying really hard to both empty these bottles of barleywine and drain at least 1 keg. Wish me...
