    Craigslist score

I was able to snag a kegging system complete with everything to set up a two tap system including a full co2 tank, 3 cornys and enough keg gasket sets to rebuild each of them 3 times and also two 6.5 gal. carboys for $160.

acquired kegs on craigslist and 2 are full! could they be drinkable?

Just a note, it's not always beer in the kegs you buy second hand. My kegs were full when I bought them too. Only difference is that they were full of sanitizer. Lucky for me the former owner told me that it was sanitizer, no need to taste that.

What do you do with all that beer?

That's an issue that I'm having. I don't drink it as fast as I brew it. My new years resolution is to drink a LOT more. Also I'm a firefighter so when I start kegging I plan to keep a keg on tap at our fire departments clubhouse. It'll go quick over there!

    NYC Apartment Brewing Challenges

My house is only 630 Sq. Ft. so I know your pain. I ferment in my bedroom. Usually just set my bucket/carboy next to the dresser. If you're worried about light, throw a blanket or tshirt over it.

Just took a sip of Anchor's 2010 Christmas Ale.

I got one bottle of it and to me it tasted like some type of cleaning detergent. I couldn't even drink it. I went back to my Sierra Nevada Pale Ale to wash that nasty taste out of my mouth.

Is it a good idea? Calling all Engineeers and Software guys!

If this is the only offer then you don't have a lot of choices... Between a job and no job, I'll take a job.

    Home Brewing is booming

The guy that runs the LHBS that I go to said that in the last three months or so his business has tripled. It's definitely taking off!

    Uh oh, I made a 5-gallon Beercicle

Being that you are kegging it's probably fine. If you had planned to naturally carb then it might be a problem.

inductor or rinse tanks for fermentation?

The other benefit to conicals is the valves at and near the bottom for drawing off yeast or pulling samples... You could probably drill these and add the valves if you wanted to. They look pretty cool.

Overly Smokey Beer -What To Do?

I brewed a smoked porter. At first it was all smoke and no porter. I aged it for about 6 months and it is delicious. Age heals beer.

question about craft breweries, ex. DFH

I think I heard on one episode that Dogfish Head utilizes a Steam CIP (clean in place) system. Like everyone else said, they wash and re-use their yeast.

    Cider Help

I did a Cyser (Cider w/ Honey) back in May or June. My LHBS told me that making a Cider is more like making a wine than a beer. I did 4 1/2 gallons of cider and 10 lbs of honey. I don't have my brew book here at work so I don't know my SG's but I know my abv was 13.75%. Don't remember what yeast...

    Brewer's Best Holiday Ale Recipe

I just brewed this one last week. The corn sugar is all supposed to go in. The kit should also have come with priming sugar in a separate bag so you don't need to save any of the corn sugar. Your hop utilization will be different than what was intended but you still made beer. Let it run its...

Poor students currently brewing 2 batches... tell me where we've screwed up!

Yup. Just make sure everything is sanitary. Use a spray bottle to sanitize the hydrometer, the cap on the fermenter and anything else you come in contact with. Also, an auto siphon is about $10 and will be the best brewing investment you will have made thus far. I highly recommend them.

    Free (for most) Newcastle Glass.

Fine print says that the forms must be postmarked before Sept. 15, 2010 so there is still plenty of time. I guess I'm off to the beer store tomorrow to grab some Newcastle.
