    Brewday Help (brewing now).

Thanks for responses. Doing a full volume boil, so will reduce the late addition. The recipe also calls for a dry hop of 2.0 oz. centennial, so i should get some good aroma there. Thanks.

    Brewday Help (brewing now).

Currently brewing a MoreBeer Janet's Brown. When inventorying the kit, it appears that they shorted me an ounce of Cascade hops. The recipe calls for 1.5 oz. at 10 min & 1.5 oz. at 1 min. Should I reduce the addition to 1.0 oz. at each time, or reduce the 1 min addition to 0.5 oz...

    1st time kegging

Probably kegged my pale ale too soon (two weeks after brewing). Beer tastes young/green, & was wondering if it will continue to condition after force carbonation & storage in fridge at ~45F? Not as concerned about the carbonation affecting the conditioning of the beer as I am the cool...

    complete joy of homebrewing

purchased & have read Palmer's How to Brew, & was wondering if Papazian's Complete Joy would be worth reading after Palmer's book. does it have anything to offer that Palmer's book didn't? If not worthwhile, any suggestions for good homebrew reading?

    Fermenter odor

Just noticed that my bucket fermenter has pretty strong odor. Curious if residual odors from a previous batch will affect the flavor of my next batch, especially if I am brewing a different style of beer. Also, how many batches do you run through a bucket fermenter before buying a new one...

    1st batch - a little disappointed

Cloudiness shouldn't be chill haze. Used 50' immersion chiller & cooled wort to ~70F in around 10 minutes. Seems I read somewhere that the US-05 takes a while to settle out. Used Wyeast smack pack on last (3rd) batch. Used US-05 on my 2nd batch (will bottle this weekend). If the 2nd batch...

1st AG batch - brewday gone bad

Patersbier recipe copied from a thread I saw on this forum (modified somewhat based on ingredients available @ LHBS). 10# Pilsner malt, 2oz. Hallertau (3%) @ 60min, 0.75oz Saaz (3%) @ 10min, 1tsp Irish moss @ 15min. Wyeast Labs 3787 yeast. Brew day was going well until time to drain the...

    1st batch - a little disappointed

Northern Brewer Extra Pale Ale, extract + specialty grains. Procedure-wise, everything went well, with the exception being that my OG was a little lower than expected (1.041 vs 1.045). Pitched Safale US-05 yeast. 8 days in primary & 20 days in secondary @ around 68F. Final gravity = 1.010...

    1st time brewing question

plan to brew my 1st batch this weekend (northern brewer, extra pale ale). will be using a converted keg for my brew kettle. brew kit instructions say to use 15% to 25% less bittering hops when doing a full-volume boil. should i follow this instruction, or add the total amount (2oz cascade) of...
