    Adding dry hop to secondary

thanks guys. I guess that would be common sense. I figured Hops are naturally that way. I will put it in a tea bag to keep the beer cleaner though :)

    Adding dry hop to secondary

Hi all. I just brewed an IPA last night and after two weeks the recipe calls to add 2 oz of Dry Hop which I have. My question is risk of contamination. Is the risk high? Is there a way to kill any bacteria before I put into secondary with the brew? thank you

    Mild-Blonde Recipe Needed

HI all. I'm still pretty new at this... starting to plan my 3rd batch. Anyone have any great recipes that produce a mild-blonde beer? It's just a personal preference but just needing some ideas. thanks!

    Are you all alcoholics?

I enjoy giving my beer to other people than drinking it myself. It's actually a good conversation piece because they'll ask lots of questions about it. It's fun to explain the process of making your own beer. It's even cooler when they enjoy it more than most of their store-bought beer.

    Hello from Asheville, NC

Hello! Joined the forums not long ago and have found so much great info on this site so far! Currently live in Asheville, NC (which I believe has taken the top spot for Beer Capital of the U.S. over Portland ) :ban: I'm sure I'll get some arguments on that one haha I'm new to the...

    Preparing Yeast

Yes I'll definitely do a starter next time around. To be honest I stopped paying attention to my Stopper. I'm just going to use the hydrometer on this one to see what the activity is doing. Every few days I'll do a reading. I'm sure I shocked the heck out of the yeast when I pitched plus...

    Preparing Yeast

HI all. I'm doing my second brew (Belgian Wit) with added citrus zest. I'm also using Belgian Wit yeast (liquid) but added a vial that was about a month of out date. :( It's been in the fermentor for close to 48 hours and I'm don't believe I'm getting much fermenting action thus far...

Is it normal if your Yeast works off and on?

Hi all. Brewed a Belgium Wit yesterday. Finished at 4PM and stuck it in the fermentor. Today at 10ish AM I noticed it bubbling at a pretty steady rate.. once every 5-7 seconds. I noticed it was pretty cold (64 degrees in my basement) so I stuck a small space heater next to it to warm it...

    Yeast issue with my brew...

Thanks for the reply Revvy and you are right, I did not do a starter. To be honest I'm not certain how so I'll need to do alittle research on that. I simply let the tube warm to room temp, shook it up really good, than pitched it.

    Yeast issue with my brew...

HI all.. This is my second brew so I'm still pretty new at this. I brewed a Belguim Wit yesterday. All was going very well until my brew was done and I pulled out my liquid yeast to throw it in. I noticed on the label it said "Best if used before 12/20" My local dealer accidentally sold...

    Brewing w/ Orange Zest

I'm pretty new at this. What does "knockout" mean? I'm assuming per the previous post that it's right before I take it off the stove to chill. That's interesting... so the zest really doesn't even get boiled into the brew?

    Brewing w/ Orange Zest

Thanks for the info. When should I throw it in the brew during the boil? Right before it's finished? Any idea how much? Like a cup of zest?

    Brewing w/ Orange Zest

Hi all, I'm new to brewing and am so far loving it. I'm about to do a Belgium Wit and I wanted to make it a more citrus beer. I have all the ingredients except the orange. How do you brew w/ the orange exactly? Do you use the orange peel zest? Can you squeeze in a few oranges while...
