    An annual

So looking to brew something kind of special only one time a year that takes a year to age. Think it would be cool to have something that I brew on an annual basis as a kind of annual tradition. I was thinking maybe a barley wine. Any ideas? Thank you

    Colorado Native

Hey, I tried a new beer today. It is called the Colorado Native. It is a Lager that is supposedly entirely made in Colorado with CO hops and grains. It is a Coors beer in disguise though. I would describe it as a lighter fat tire. It's pretty good, nothing real special though...

    hot fermenting styles

So it is getting hot outside and I am going to be keeping my carboys in a house that is not air conditioned this year. I don't really care to go through building a temp control chamber this year but I still want to keep brewing. I am sure this probably has been talked about but what styles and...

    rhizomes storage

Just got my first Rhizomes. From what I understand I need to wait until the weather gets better before I plant, so Mayish. I put the rhizomes in the fridge. Do I need to do anything or are they fine chilling in the fridge? Should I put a small amount of water in the bag with them? Thanks

    rookie wild yeast question

So I brewed the other day siphoned off a mason of wort and put it by the window. I checked on it tonight and there is no activity yet as expected. I did notice though that there is a layer of dust and dirt sitting on top of the wort. Should I shrug it off or try again and put a piece of...

    small batch fermenter

Hey, So I have been thinking about doing more experimenting but I don't want to risk the money and time on 5 gallon batches. So I think I want to do several 1 gallon batches. I like glass carboys but I don't want to spend $30 per 3 gallon carboy. I have thought about just getting some...

    craft brewers alliance

So after watching Beer Wars I decided to look into what beers actually are independent. I came across the company named Craft Brewers Alliance. I thought hhhhmmmmmm that must be some small brewers working together. Nope just Red Hook and Widmer merged together (news to me). I decided to give...

    books

Hey, So I have now brewed 5 different extract kits with some success. I want to move more towards creating my own recipes. I have been playing around with Beer Calculus but I feel like I don't know the tastes the different grains give. I have read Chuck P. but he only talks about the taste...

Does this look infected to you?

Third batch ever- Brewed this Dead Guy Ale extract kit about 11 days ago. I used a t-shirt over the carboy for the first time. It bubbled nicely for many days. Took off the t-shirt and found it looks funky. Is it infected or is that just sediment stuck to the side?
