Whoops! Primary - How long is too long?

With this question answered, I'm curious- How long is too long in the primary? I know that eventually the yeast will begin to decompose after a period of time, but I'm not sure what time-frame to apply to that. Does it generally depend on the yeast?

    Cider Testing

So SWMBO and I are going to be experimenting over the next few months with some ciders, and are open to suggestions for things to try out. For purposes of consistency, we'll probably be using the same cider/apple juice for every batch, though we haven't settled on which in particular yet...

Whoops! Primary - How long is too long?

Whew! I'm definitely glad this is the response I got! I was pretty worried when I found the carboy all alone and forgotten. I'll definitely be kegging and bottling this up as soon as I can, then!

Whoops! Primary - How long is too long?

So we brewed up an extract batch of a regular porter about two months ago. However, for some reason or another, we completely forgot about this particular batch until now (more focused on work, cider, all-grain). Anyhow, I reckon we brewed this batch up about two months ago, and it's still in...

    Buying a kegerator

Checked the computer at Costco and they're not carrying it anymore (at least not in my region- working at Costco has its perks :) ). The Kenmore isn't bad, it's definitely up on my list now. For those who have purchased kegerators in the past- How difficult is it to switch out towers?

    Buying a kegerator

So far I've been leaning towards this model- http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003XMKE5S/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

    Buying a kegerator

So with the holidays, I'm now in the market for a decent kegerator. I'm not exactly up for making my own (lack of materials, time, bad experiences), so that leaves me with going out and buying one. Are there any particular brands which you folks would suggest for me (or to avoid)? I've got a...

    Ryan's Chocolate Orange Stout

Out of curiosity, did you use the orange peel spices, or the actual peels off the oranges?

    Looking for 1g Recipe Ideas

So the warden and I brewed up some Graff last night, and kegged some Apfelwein tonight. We've done Graff twice now, and it was the first time for Apfelwein (Which is deliciously alcoholic by the way). That said, we're looking to expand from there and try some new recipes. At this point in...

    Dead guy. Gotta love CostCo

I'm surprised we (I work at Costco in Washington) have been carrying Dead Guy Ale for as long as we have this year. Generally it's only an item we have in stock near October for Halloween, but we've been carrying it since May/June and there is no sign of us stopping. I'd really like Costco to...

Brewery's to visit in the PNW

On the off chance you're near Bellingham Washington, I suggest checking out Boundary Bay Brewery and either trying the Scotch Ale or their sampler.

    dry hop question

Sounds good. And for using them while boiling the wort, while I generally bag up the hops during the boil, am I SOL for entrapping the pellets?

    dry hop question

On a similar note with dry hopping- Typically with dry hopping I have used dried hops in bags, but for my next batch I was only able to obtain pellet hops. Is there a particular way I should go about dry hopping with them?

Orange Peel in a Mac and Jacks Clone

@GroosBrewz: I can never get enough Mac & Jacks (And I live in Bellingham!), so this could be a delicious batch to try out. Any way I can get a hold of that recipe?

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Yep! Moved up here a couple years ago to attend WWU, though whenever I end up graduating I'll definitely be sticking around for a while. Might move down to Portland or Hilsboro in a few years though.

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Well, just made my first five gallons of Graff. Ended up using two pounds of light DME, and apart from that, I only made one other error. Boiled it for 60 minutes instead of 30. I'm not sure how I managed to do that, but we'll see how the batch turns out. *crosses fingers*

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Went down to the local homebrewing store to get the stuff for this, last night. They weren't carrying any Amber DME, so I ended up getting two pounds of the light DME instead. Should this work relatively well, or should I wait a week or two to get the Amber?
