I found a SS turkey frier at walmart... It's only like 7gal though.. Going to make the keggle soon.

What size Mash tun do I need?

What he said... I built one out of a 5gal and it's a real PITA sometimes. Adjusting the temps is a real PITA if it's off when it's full to the brim. 5 galls work fine for the HLT though :)

    check my logic

how long is your hose? Even with a 50' hose here in the summer heat the water coming out the end is still damn cold... Just make sure you either boil your IC or sanitize it. about 99% of the time I brew late afternoon into the night so the sun isn't a problem.

What is the best way to monitor fermentation temp?

I often stick a thermometer in a glass of water and place it next to it. This should give you a fairly accurate reading...

    Is this the right Refractometer?

I'll ask my roommates when they get home if they know of any. They have bought more science related stuff for work/personal use than I have... I found one place that sold them pretty damn cheap. Like under $30... but they don't ship the refractometers outside of Europe... Hey it's New...

Any trick for keggle cutting using compressor w/ cut off wheel

Excellent idea! I haven't really given how I'm going to cut it nice and round yet. But that sounds like it would work... Maybe even put the keg on something similar to a lazy susan so it can be rotated by someone else while you hold the grider on...

Well, the leap has officially been made.

Doubt it. I know when the guy at MLHBS crushes my malts he adjusts it right then each time...

    Is this the right Refractometer?

I know that one is not the right one... You need one that does BRIX I mean you could use that to see the alcohol % but that's not what you really want...

Any trick for keggle cutting using compressor w/ cut off wheel

I assume you mean one of these? I've yet to cut my keg but planned to try that or my dremmel. I've used it on other metals and cut off some exhaust bolts on my car with no effort... Are you running it fast enough?

5 Gallon SS Stock Pot.. WTF!?

    Is this the right Refractometer?

to my understanding that just means you don't have to aim it towards a light... I could be wrong though so take it for what it is... The one I have now it's not that hard to see through it. If I am near a lamp or ceiling light it's fine. Outside is even easier..

    Recommendations for small stir motor

You could use an old blender motor but again that might be overkill.

    PVC pipes and boiling water

PVC when heated up releases chlorine. This is not only bad for your beer but not good for you. I'm not 100% sure but I think that if you used ABS (looks like black PVC) you should be fine.

    Is this the right Refractometer?

Okay I bought one refractometer but... being an idiot I just bought it without looking at the range... So it only went from 0-10... :cross: So I am looking at buying this one. I think this is the right one but I want to have someone that actually knows a bit about them look at it and let me...

    Clearing a Cloudy beer

I know it's not the munich that caused it... I think I'm going to try putting it in the fridge for a few days and if that doesn't work maybe try the gelatin then give up and enjoy a nice cloudy beer :)

    Clearing a Cloudy beer

weird... in the article it says Bentonite will work... but then other places say not to use it in beer

    Clearing a Cloudy beer

Back in July I made a beer that was sort of a mistake. I was rushing to my LHBS and worked up a quick promash report and gave it to the guy to buy the grains. I accidentally clicked on Munich 2-row instead of American... Well I made the beer just the same and it's been sitting in a carboy since...
