    60 Minute mashing unnecessary....

At my age (70) I really appreciate a 60 min mash (rest) time. In fact I have been considering going to a standard 90 min mash and maybe getting in a little nap. ;) :p ;) Paul

    Natural Carbonation in Keg

I want to naturally carbonate some of my brew in the keg and have a couple of questions. 1. As far as I have been able to determine about 2.5 ounces of corn sugar is the proper amount to prime with. Is this correct? 2. How long can a brew set in secondary and still be...

    noob question on batch sparging

Thank you for your quick replies. In my situation I think that heating the water hotter might be my best bet. If I do go with a valve setup do you think I would be smart to install a baffle of some sort to more evenly distribute the water? Paul

    noob question on batch sparging

When batch sparging must the water be poured in all at once or can it be added thru say a one inch valve? I have been searching for an answer to this question for a couple of days but have been unable to come up with a definitive answer. Thank You Paul

    Secondary regulator

Brewin Crazy You state that there is a difference between a primary regulator and a secondary regulator. However, if you go to the Micromatic websight and check out the repair parts for both types of regulators in the same series they are the same. I ask because I plan on using some "primary"...

    gelatin finings?

I have a batch of wheat beer (my first all grain using bag method) which was very cloudy. I added warm gelatin to a secondary and transferred the primary to the secondary. I thought I would take a gravity reading and it was at 1.028 after fermenting for 3 and 1/2 weeks. Of course I was very...

You are absolutely right. My after action reading of the instructions was wrong. I guess the Florida sun must have fried what few brains I have. Thank You Paul

    Made a Goof. Dump?

You have just made my day. I am getting a little long in the tooth (what few I have left) and brewing outside in this hot Florida weather just about put me under. A second Question. I am using a dedicated refrigerator for fermenting. Do's 65 degree F sound right? Thank You Paul

    Made a Goof. Dump?

Just brewed my first batch today. When reading the kit instructions (for the umpteenth time) I missed one fact. It says to get as much of the cold break as possible into the primary fermenter. When I poured from my boil pot into the primary I poured thru a strainer for aeriation and just dumped...
