Don't think it's a problem. Keep worth away from bacteria in a sealed carboy as usual.

    Weird liquid yeast smell

Hi, I did a starter couple of minutes ago with a whitelabs english ale liquid yeast. It might sounds stupid but, what it is supposed to smell (i mean, the yeast tube once open)? Once shaked in the tube, the yeast looks like curdle cream (not alot of liquid). Anyway, I pitched to my starter and...

    bitter bite

+1 for water, my first batch was horribly bitter, not a pleasant hop bitterness. I switched to bottled water and beer is fine now.

    Tap-A-Draft Systems

I used tap-a-draft for 1 year before switch to kegs. It's pretty cool but mine was "eating" CO2 too rapidly, and the cartridges are expensive here. Pros: Fits easily into fridge without any modifications Can bring it to partys easily Cons: Cannot serve many glass at a time. The...

    Flaked oat question

Hi, I'm going to brew a nutty brown ale tomorrow. The person at my HBS ordered flaked wheat instead of flaked oat. Can I use standard flaked oat I can find in grocery stores or the one used in brewery is different? I don't want to wait another week to brew this. Thanks.

1 or 2 packs of dry yeast?

I know, but I was reading a bit of John Palmer's book and he use 2 packages frequently in 5 gallons batches... I was just wondering if it can improve the beer.

1 or 2 packs of dry yeast?

I plan to brew a brown ale this weekend (OG 1.052) and I'll use dry nottingham yeast. I was just wondering, should I put 2 packs or only one is enough? I mean, is it preferable to have a stronger fermentation or can it give off flavors by adding too much yeast? Thanks.

    White crust in kegs? Limestone?

Ok thanks. Can I use metal scrubby or it will create scratches for infections and particles?

    White crust in kegs? Limestone?

Hi, someone gave me some used kegs. I used Oxiclean, TSP for cleaning. Everything is clean but there is a thin little white crust (looks like calcium or limestone). Even if I rub it, it doesn't go away. Someone know what it is and how to remove it? I'd like to use these kegs. Thanks.

    Milky Star San

Hi, I'm pretty new with star san and I'm having an issue with the milky look of the product. I use 1/2 oz in 2.5 gallons. Everything is fine the first day, but 48 hours after, the liquid turns milky. I tried to make another batch, same thing. I don't have phpmeter to check it. Is it possible...
