    My First Beer

I don't really consider it a sulfery taste, no. It's also hard to describe it because I don't really want to remember it, haha. I have some more in a Grolsch bottle I could try, but I don't want to. I'm scared to put it in my mouth again. Here's some potential problems I had, as I spotted...

    My First Beer

Yeah, so this ended up tasting like dookie, haha. It ended up spending about 10 days in the primary and about 13 in secondary. Long story short, I got all ready to bottle and couldn't get my hands on any bottle caps. I got some of it into some Grolsch bottles though. Finally a brewing friend...

    Stopper in the carboy

I'm on my first brew and pushed the airlock grommet down into my fermenter. I left it there too :P

    My First Beer

Ha, thanks. I read "How to Brew" and "Homebrewing for Dummies" cover-to-cover, I should hope I picked up something...

    My First Beer

I have it in a big tub of water, and the temp gauge on the side reads about 70. And, I didn't buy a meter yet, so no readings... The airlock seals the hole up, I mean it rests evenly across it, so I don't think anything will be getting in.

    My First Beer

So I have been wondering if this is fermenting. Since the airlock is not sealed well, I don't think it is bubbling like it should. I have no movement from the airlock. I assume the CO2 is escaping around the airlock and not through it. But when I pull it up and smell it, it smells like beer and...

    My First Beer

Thanks, I actually just read your post about not dumping a batch just because something happened to it. I wasn't planning on dumping mine, but it was a good read.

    My First Beer

I just got done with my first brewing session by myself. I used the only thing I could conveniently get my hands on, one 3.3 lb can of Munton's Light Hopped extract and a 3 lb bag of Munton's Light Dry extract. The brewing process went fine it seemed. I had a problem though when I went to put...

    CNBC documentary on AB

There is a special on CNBC right now about the history and marketing of Anheuser-Busch up from it's beginning. It is even discussing the encroachment of craft beers and homebrewing.

    Any homebrewers in Alabama ?

What LHBS did you visit in B'ham? I'd like to check it out. Our hardware store here in Tuscaloosa has some stuff, but it's mostly just hardware. Only a couple malt extracts are stocked. I think literally, two containers. And they were dusty... I found Alabrew online, but from their directions...

Here is the article I speak of: May Your Hops Be Free

Alabama might be entering the 13th century.

Yeah, the Crimson White newspaper here on campus had a article on it, and they had interviewed the owner of that place. He was stockpiling in anticipation of it passing. The article also had a funny description of the process in which it was passed. Apparently it's most vocal opponent, I...

Just as an update, this bill passed here about 2 weeks ago. It's official. It is just now starting to trickle into the stores here in Tuscaloosa.

    Alabama here

Did that particular homebrewer go out west this summer to Yellowstone? I've seen enough flaming on other forums to know where to find the search button. :D

    Alabama here

Ah, I HBT'd when I should have Googled. I call my SWMBO my social director. As in "Yo Ryan, want to go bowling tonight?" "I don't know, let me check with my social director..." RDWHAHB is right though, right?

    Alabama here

Okay, I've done a little research. RDWHAHB means "Relax, Don't Worry, Have a HomeBrew" and after wading through such humorous bits as: Sand Will Mar Bum Orifice, Santa Wants to Massage Barack Obama, and Self-absorbed Wankers May Bugger Off, I have come to the conclusion that it means Sanitize...
