    Brewing my first mead...

I'm glad I asked. Thanks for the replies! It looks like my mead endeavor might have to be put on hold for a little bit...

    Brewing my first mead...

So! I got a 5-gallon pickle bucket from work yesterday...and I thought I'd try my hand at brewing a mead. I don't have any pictures on me at the moment, but I thought I'd ask some general questions here to try and get my leg up on the pile. It came with a lid, which, at far as I can tell, has...

Of Color: Help me find out what I did

It was added right when we got the wort to a boil after removing the bag of grains, so I don't think it was late, unless that term means something else. I'll do a search. Thanks!

Of Color: Help me find out what I did

So, we brewed the Norther Brewer Cream Ale extract kit....Bottled earlier this week. We used a few clear bottles this time and noticed...It sure is a lot darker than it was advertised to be. My mom and dad tried some while I was at work last night (?! ) and told me it was much heavier and...

    Man, I HATE Bottling....

We just bottled our sencond batch, and I have to say, I kind of enjoyed it this time. our first bottling session was chaos, we lost 4+ bottles due to spilling, a stream of beer actually shot straight out of the spigot across the kitchen, and everything and everyone was sticky and wet afterwards...

    bottled first batch.

i bottled my irish red (also my first brew) last thursday and popped one open today...certainly needs aging, but it still tasted great. i don't mean to toot my own proverbial horn, but for a first brew, the color, clarity, head, and aroma were all great...the taste, while it needs more time, was...

    First Brew Day

A question you all of you: I am pretty nervous about bottle bombs...Is it a good idea to store bottles in a metal trash can or something while they're conditioning? Or am I just being too worried? I would hate for anyone to get hurt, you know. EDIT CONCERNING THE DOG: thanks a lot, but she...

    First Brew Day

honestly, I forget what the yeast was...Whichever kind of dry yeast Northern Brewer recommends with thier Irish Red kit. We ordered their Cream Ale kit for our next brew too... We are bottling this Thursday (a little early, I know) and we're going to Bottle condition for about three...

    Hey-o

Oh man, I feel right at home! Some pictures of the first brew are at this thread: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/first-brew-day-116163/ My dad texted me this morning (I live out of the house for now, and thus away from the beer) saying that the airlock was happily bubbling away!
