Best Pump For Brewing Larger Batches

Sounds good walter, these pumps have been working great with the poly impellers. It'll be nice to cover the magnets even if you don't NEED to. I'm an engineer too and I like belts AND suspenders! :-)

And these SS covers you mention for the 3 series, are they something that can be added to my current impellers, or do i have to get new ones? Thanks Walter!

and form the monster thread https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f11/new-replacement-march-pump-180761/index48.html#post2592875 if you got this monster thread pages 48-50 and read, you'll see the conversation i am referring to. whats the risk of the exposed magnets? should i switch to the...

Best Pump For Brewing Larger Batches

They all have the same setup, these impellers are the exact same as the 809s as far as configuration.

Best Pump For Brewing Larger Batches

If the impeller is made from the same stuff as the housing, how would it be rated at a lower temp? And you can get the impeller magnet encapsulated in the kynar version if it really concerns you. I don't know the part number, but maybe walter will chime in with that info. Also the march 809 has...

Can the built in digital thermostat in this freezer be over ridden?

i actually have both a ranco 1100 and a Johnson Controls A419 probably just pick one and go with it, the other i'll be using for my fermentation chamber. both controllers have their positives and negatives, i'm leaning towards liking the A419 its just easier and has the ability to change short...

Can the built in digital thermostat in this freezer be over ridden?

thats probably what i'll do as well, was just wondering if anyone had any issues or rewired this version before. the temp alarm is kind of annoying but there is a thread for disabling that function.

Can the built in digital thermostat in this freezer be over ridden?

does anyone know how to rewire the existing in-lid digital thermostat to be used for fridge temps? is there a digital equivalent to a set screw like on the mechanical t-stats?

Can the built in digital thermostat in this freezer be over ridden?

Kenmore Elite 24.9 cu. ft. Chest Freezer (1658) I have a chance to pick one of these up for $150 and the thing looks brand new, even though its 3 years old (one owner with original paperwork, hardly used) my question is can you use these freezers with digital t-stats, or should you stick...

Best Pump For Brewing Larger Batches

I never said the 809s are quieter, those pumps are loud for sure. but the BC-3 motors are completely different than the 809 motors. The 3 series motors have sealed ball bearings just like LG pumps. The 809s have sleeve bearings I believe. I like to circulate boiling wort to sanitize things so...

Best Pump For Brewing Larger Batches

The cheapest place i found online was tesco pumps (which the my local one matched :mug:), they quoted me Hope they don't start raising prices.........

Best Pump For Brewing Larger Batches

I wanted to start a new thread about pumps since the “new replacement for march pump” thread is now going on 50 pages and is merely a battle (sometimes contentious). I really feel for some larger batch brewers (such as myself) the March 809 is underpowered, same with the chugger...

    New Replacement for March Pump

ahhh yes, too quick on my part, then we eagerly await walters response..... Thanks again walter! :mug: CoolHandLuke, are you thinking the LG pump motors are sealed? or are you asking if this is another reason to buy the march pump? This is from LG manual online regarding the motors...

    New Replacement for March Pump

Walter may over rule me but loking at the manual online for the 3 series motors: ELECTRICAL: Models are 115 Volt or 230 Volt, 60Hz or 50/60Hz, 1 phase, A.C. motors. The motors are thermal overload protected and have sealed ball bearings, which allows the pump to be run continuously. So i...

    New Replacement for March Pump

So if you buy a BC-3CP-MD and change out the impeller it basically becomes a AC-3CP-MD pump? they do have a bunch of these pumps on ebay and other sites might try and find some deals and just replace the wet end. Even so a brand new AC-3CP-MD is already on ebay for $120 shipped, not bad. new pumps!

    New Replacement for March Pump

Well that seals it for me, thats a no brainer for the debate between the LG 3-MD-HC and the March AC-3CP-MD with the polysulfone upgrades. Anyone waivering between those pumps, there is your answer in black and white. Also notice you're paying mostly for the motor, so say you aren't paying...

    New Replacement for March Pump

So this pump you are describing being assembled above from march with the additional parts will match (roughly) the performance of the LG 3-MD-HC pumps, will be fully rated for above boiling temps, all food grade materials in wort contact, made in the U.S.A, for under $200? The only caveat...

can you mix your own beer gas?

ok so buy premixed, do you know what type of bottle they prefer to put the beer gas in? should it be a nitrogen bottle, or a co2 bottle? i can adapt the gauges to either the CGA320 or CGA580 valve.

can you mix your own beer gas?

how would you get the desired effect with seperate bottles? what about just buying a bottle of already blended gas?
