Widmer Hefeweizen Clone - It's summertime!

Actually just had a hefeweizen tonight that I based on Widmer's Mine was: 4lb's Wheat 4lb's Pale .75lb Munich .50lb Crystal 40 I'm not an expert but it was fairly close, maybe a little heavy on the munich/crystal. Thanks Weizen, I've allways wondered if you could harvest the yeast from Widmer.

    3 Gallon Pinlock Kegs - $50

Dang, I'm down in Eugene and I've been wanting a 3 gallon keg since I started brewing. Let me know if anyone falls through.

Anyone need Kegs for keggles in PDX?

I'd like to buy them for future use, but have no room. You could check craigslist, there is usually an ad or two of people looking for keg shells.

    moldy bottles

I usually just put moldy bottles in Oxiclean overnight and it takes care of it, than sanitize as usual.

Has anyone ever made an IPA with no bittering hops?

I've done an IPA with all the hops in the last 30 minutes calculated IBU's still came out to 65. It has huge hop flavor, maybe even too much for the amount of bitterness. But that might just be cause my hop choice was on the citrus side.

Clean beer smell out of primary ?

Mine continually smells like Hops. That must mean I'm doing something right ;)

    Another reason to hate Budweiser

That is ridiculous, I've never heard of any company changing their Accounts Payable terms to suppliers to something that crazy. I would love to see all the suppliers band together and jack up their prices to Budweiser, but it's probably not going to happen. Another reason to hate Budweiser...

home brewing costs - is it me?

Sounds like you have a really expensive LHBS. My extract beers have ranged from $20 (Hefe) all the way to $55 (IIPA with 8oz of hops). Are you using Dry or Liquid extract? Liquid is usually much cheaper. Dry of liquid Yeast?

I'm trying to find a beer for an extreme hop head! ME!

I agree their IPA's tend to be on the malty/english style. That's why my favorite IPA's are made by Stone and Russian River;)

I'm trying to find a beer for an extreme hop head! ME!

I don't know if you got a bad one or what. But it definitely doesn't taste like they used a belgian yeast. It's a pretty straight forward American IIPA.

Need a recipe formulation superhero. Will provide free beer.

Yea, they had that article at the brewery. It's a great read and shows how a lot of other Breweries that claim 100+IBU's are full of it. It's pretty sweet, Deschutes has a lab in the brewery to make sure everything is legit.

River Tubing with a Cornie Keg

My vote would be for a 3gallon setup or just put it into 2 liter soda bottles.

    Brew pubs/breweries in Salem?

There is nothing great about Salem, it's actually probably one of the worst places in Oregon. Try and make the drive to Eugene (Ninkasi, Oakshire, Eugene City Brewery aka Rogue) or up to Portland. You're about an hour away from either city.

Brewed my first AG; Simcoe & Maris Otter SMaSH

I've never brewed with either, so I'm pretty excited. I've heard Simcoe has a piney taste to it? I usually stick to Centennial, Cascade, Amarillo, Zeus, and Summit.

Stove top brewing w/ 2600w canning element...?

Just to bump this up. I bought one off Ebay for $20 and it is a HUGE improvement. I used to have the heat on high to boil 3 gallons and now it brings it up to boil much faster. I have no doubts that I could do a full 5 gallon boil on it, if only I had a IC. Another thing I noticed was less...

Stone 11th Extract Clone: need critique

Try the search next time, read this. It has everything you need, you're already pretty close. Did you base your recipe on this. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f12/stone-xi-anniversary-clone-51521/ I actually tried this grain bill out recently but went with a different hop schedule. 9lb Light...

    Cold crashing in the bottle

In my experience it only takes a couple days in the fridge for all the stuff to settle to the bottom of the bottles.
