What beer/homebrew blogs/magazines do you read?

Zymurgy regularly, madfermentationist, Brülosophy, Braukaiser but he hasn't been active for 3 years, Experimental Brewing, HomebrewTalk occasionally. I used to get BYO which is a great magazine but just don't have that much time.

    Nice deal on Millar's mill

Looks like he let the domain expire and a squatter is sitting on it. A friend has one of these mills and loves it.

Steam Jacket Kettle Mash Tun for Sale

I have a 40 gallon steam jacketed kettle with crank dump for sale. I've used it as a mash tun with a lauter tun under the front but am down sizing because I just don't brew that big of batches anymore. Perfect for a club system. I've had over 60lbs of grain in it with plenty of room left. I...

Win a Brew Kettle or Ferm Tank from Delta Brewing Systems!

I could really use a new fermenter. My heater melted a spot in my old plastic conical.

    Stc-1000+

Yesterday those listings said there were thousands available. I guess it pays to order them immediately and know whether they exist. I was going to order a couple more.

They use several different chips that can't all be modded. You have to get the A-400P or STM8 versions or this won't work. There is somebody who started modding another version but I can't find the post in this thread. He said it had far more potential than the A-400P. U-Control, the same...

Price of honey - search for the best deal (spreadsheet)

Costco regularly (not always) has #5 jugs of wildflower honey for $11.99.

Beer wars: Yuengling fights massive merger of Budweiser and Miller Lite brewers

Not only does AB/InBev (a Belgian company) control a huge number of breweries and beer companies world wide, they recently bought Northern Brewer which is the largest homebrew retailer in the US. So yeah, they are into EVERY aspect of what we love. I stopped buying their products when I read...

    Soldering Stainless steel

Good timing. I just soldered a bulkhead fitting into my new lauter tun. I' try that to clean it up in the morning. It makes sense that acid would clean it off considering the flux is acid.:mug:

I've ordered 4 from him all flashed with my settings. Nice guy and good to do business with, especially if you can't do the reprogramming yourself. This is an amazing project. A huge thanks to alpha and the rest who have helped. I love these controls and the price is right :) If these...

I did the same thing with the same heater even though I've wired several of these units before and should have remembered that power to the unit doesn't power the heating and cooling circuits. D'oh! :smack:

Strain gauge is what I meant - long day. :drunk: I'd think using something like ptfe for the weight and suspension might work. You may need something less dense though. I've never worked with strain gauges. Just throwing out an idea that I'd think may be able to be more accurate for those so...

Why not just use a pressure transducer and a float that's slightly denser than wort hanging in the wort? The weight would increase slightly as the fermentation proceeds and it would be pretty accurate.

    Treating Brewing Water

I've seen the aquarium units listed on ebay. Those I've seen list throughput at 80 - 100 gallons per day. Plenty for brewing! It would be easy enough to set it up with a poly drum and a float switch or level control valve.

    Treating Brewing Water

Basically. I've had good results with building water from RO. Unless I install a separate RO system for brewing I'll continue with the lack of supply issues. That's why I was hoping there might be a way to treat the raw water to a level where it's more amenable to blending. As it is now I...

    Treating Brewing Water

I can get about 5 gallons of water out of the RO tank (I installed a 19 gallon bladder tank) then have to wait overnight (or several hours) for it to refill. A couple times I've run the tank dry and made my wife unhappy. :( If there were a solution that would let me just fill a tank/carboy and...

    Treating Brewing Water

I've got well water that's horrible for beer. Extremely hard, high sulfate, magnesium, and iron. So far I've been using straight RO water and building it up but I don't like using that much RO. I'm wondering whether anybody can help me figure out other options like aeration and slaked lime to...
