    Patience issues...

Looks like my brew's turned out to be quite powerful. I'm not totally sure because I was a n00b (first time - allowed) and didn't take the OG reading. Quite merry now :-) Haven't got the next batch in yet, but it won't be too long I don't think. I just need to decide if it's going to be a...

    Patience issues...

Very well put! Yo'll have to let us know how the first one is. llazy - spot on. It had a head for about 10 seconds, but there's definate bubbles rising and a reasonable amount of carbonation when drinking. So alltogether - very happy! :-D I think I have a better understanding of what...

    Patience issues...

I love you guys :-) Any people that encourage you to try beer are good people! I know it'll be worth waiting, and I intend to keep most for a while longer. I think I deserve it for managing to wait this long! Mildly flat is ok... Still beer!

    Patience issues...

Hey all, I have my first brew (made with the Coopers microbrew kit) in the bottles at the moment. They'll have been in for 2 weeks on Saturday which is the shortest time it says to leave them to condition/carbonate. Now it's my birthday today and my patience is creeping away from me... They're...

I couldn't laugh at this, I've not even tasted my first brew and this thought has already crossed my mind.

    First Time Brewing Question

I'm a complete n00b here too, have my first batch conditioning. I got the coopers kit, which says mix extract with fresh boiled water and sugar, top off with cold water, add yeast and seal. I know there's a lot of info on here about better ways to get better tasting beer, but I decided to follow...

Covering your fermenter with a garbage bag?

I think the OP was meaning more along the lines of chucking a bag over an already sealed fermenter... But that link was a really good way for me to use about 20 mins reading all about it, so glad you did! From what I've read (keeping in mind I'm a grade A n00b at this) there shouldn't be any...

    stupid hydrometer...

I got the Coopers Micro Brewing kit for Christmas, the hydrometer comes in a little plastic tube as expected but with the least fitting caps on both ends. First thing I did was pick it up out of the box, hold in upright and had to catch it mid-air as the weight of it pushed the bottom cap out...

    Very active fermentation...

Cool, cheers, I've just found out that there is a store nearby, so will be sure to head over there on my way home tomorrow. Will just make sure my airlock is topped up before I go out!

    Very active fermentation...

Hi, I was originally looking for why my airlock might be bubbling over (something I wasn't expecting - started out having a nice blanket wrapped around the fermenter, glad I took that off!) and I found my answer in this thread. This looks like an easy enough thing to solve, but it's late at...
