    Historical Beer: Pre-Prohibition Lager SchmiPielSchaeRheingoldter

Cheers Bob! I finally got around to making this and it's a winner for sure. I had to use us-o5 at a low temp to "fake" the lager yeast but it came very clean without any peachy flavors I've gotten in the past with us05. Lagered for 4 weeks. Any chance on getting those historical papers...

Wyeast and Rogue dispute over Pacman?

Is culturing it up from their Shakespeare Stout no longer an option?

Attaching secondary reg inside of fridge

I need help attaching a chain of three secondary regulators inside of my fridge. Unfortunately I don't have pictures but the plan is to have a single line going from the 20lb tank outside through the fridge wall and attaching to the secondary. I would prefer it if it were modular (not...

    Hops vines after harvest

Well, after typing that it made me get of my a$$ and get in touch with my crafty side. I give you my tribute to Dionysus/Bacchus, to be worn on brewdays and all other things depraved and revelous! The base is made from hop vines with hop cones on the front, grape leaves forming the frill...

    Hops vines after harvest

They make for a nice wreath base and I'm sure someone with the know how could weave them into a basket. I planned on making a Pan-esque brewing crown with them to wear for brew-days and other bacchanalia but well.... I'm lazy

    Air Hockey Oast

Good question! Being a trendy MF'r and living in the part of the country that I do I think I'm gonna save the stuff that fell off mine until I brew my next IPA. Then while drinking the IPA I'll load some of the lupalin into my vaporizer and give myself little bursts of hop flavored vapor...

    Air Hockey Oast

If you didn't already starman I would save that stuff for later. It would be excellent for adding a hop punch without all the extra biomass.

What Styles Can Be Made by SMaSH?

Blonde Ale or Ordinary Bitter would be my first choices to allow the malt and hops to shine the most but I like where you're going by making a tripel. I did something sorta of similar with MO a couple months back using kettle carmelization to make a BDSA-ish ale with Wyeast 1762.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Cooked up a batch of Orfys Mild today in honor of Mild Month. (Any time is a good time for Mild though so....:D) Excited to be using Wyeast 1318 for my first time as I've read good things about it, especially is regards to Milds.

Hops ripening at different times on same plant

So I have a second year sterling that has put out a fair amount of cones despite my negligence (no trellis, poor watering....:cross:) but the cones on it are ripening at different times. It looks like there's a bunch right now that are days away from being ripe but also about half that amount...

    Reinforcing fridge floor questions

would the epoxy really be strong enough to hold up 30 gallons plus the weight of the kegs?

    Reinforcing fridge floor questions

So does that mean you made it with the brackets or without. Is a picture possible? Damn man 6 cornies and the co2..... must be a big fridge.

    Reinforcing fridge floor questions

Well all the condenser coils are on the back and underneath on this fridge so I shouldn't run into anything but insulation. I'm afraid that without attaching it to the fridge somehow it will wobble around and become unsturdy. It might not be clear from the picture but the back of the fridge...

    Reinforcing fridge floor questions

So I'm looking to upgrade my kegerator to hold 6 kegs up from two (you call only two beers on tap living...?) The kegs as of now sit on the veggie crispers but they're barely making it with 10 gallons let alone 30. So my plan is to take out the crispers and build up a floor using 3/4" oak...

    Sanitize Cold-Brewed Coffee?

I've used both cold brewed coffee and freshly pulled espresso for a mocha stout. No problems whatsoever regarding sanitation or head retention. However it was an Imperial(10.5%) stout FWIW. Also, FWIW my brewing partner and I both enjoyed the one made with cold brewed over the one made with...

Beer line that doesn't leave a taste?

The first post in this thread should shed some light on your situation. Frankly a lot of people never have issues with their vinyl tubing but I can't tell whether it's because they either aren't sensitive to the taste or whether they actually got legit tubing that doesn't leave a taste...

    Historical Beer: Pre-Prohibition Lager SchmiPielSchaeRheingoldter

I'm curious as to why this recipe needs a 90 minute boil. Previously I thought that only recipes with pilsner malt needed a 90 minute boil to get rid of the DMS precursors. Does the relatively large % of flaked corn necessitate the 90 minute boil? Also, whats your average terminal gravity...

What is your house beer you keep on tap?

I remember when I first started home brewing I wanted to brew anything and everything. I was also a relative beer newbie in that I didn't know that much about the myriad of different beers out there or more importantly which ones I actually liked. Now a couple years later I have honed my...
