Reasonably close predictions for me would probably be somewhere in the range of 2 1/2 to 3 gallons minimum depending on your water. I thought it was in my first post, but I must have erased it. Mechanically filtering and carbon filtering my water has had a discernible difference on my hop...

I still live in my starter house. 1910, 1950 addition. Half of the wiring was original, 1/4 1950 professional, 1/4 patch and mangle diy foolishness. The plumbing system was worse, some sewer line was original while the rest came from a parts bin installed by drunken squirrels and a couple lines...

I just had a conversation that touched on this with my Grandma. She remembers her dad brewing with extract from a single can without boiling anything using just well water and a can of malt. She and Dad both recall my Grandfather making beer with a pot that I now have, I believe it's 2 1/2...

I wasn't around until the 80's so I don't recall such a thing. I enjoy whoppers, sometimes a spoonful of DME and licking the LME from a can or somesuch that it gets on, so yes; I'd probably go for something like that. I've probably got some spare LME that I could see about cooking into a hard...

Getting to brew another keg to have a reserve? Seems like an ever increasing fun cycle.

Hopefully you will get a deal and will be able to expand your keg supply. There is nothing quite as fun as having a keg in reserve.

I imagined you might be restricted on things. If you have to boil in multiple batches where you boil some of it, let it cool, transfer to your fermenting pot, then boil the next batch; you will want to cover everything while it cools. If you've got a lid for your pot, throw a wet cloth over it...

For a first run with an extract; you really only NEED a pot to boil in, a bucket or carboy to ferment in, an airlock to keep nasties out, bottles to bottle with, a capper to put the caps on, some caps and a tube to siphon with. All the extra stuff helps improve your brew, and I recommend...
