Lookin' to try a new hop combo in my fave Pale Ale recipe...

I've got 6 one-ounce packages of EKG in my freezer, love that hop in my stouts, never thought about that in a pale ale (especially with Citra)!

Lookin' to try a new hop combo in my fave Pale Ale recipe...

Putting together an order, gonna try just Citra, Citra/Amarillo, Citra/Motueka, and Citra/Mandarina over the next couple of months. Any advice for timing and amounts/ratios in a nice 5.x% abv, 35 ibu pale ale?

What I did for beer today

Bottled 2.5 gallons of 1103ish -> 1020 imperial stout (40ish ibu). Stirred in 2 cups of "priming solution", consisting of 2 oz table sugar, 4 oz maltodextrin, 4 oz lactose, and a half ounce (by volume) of Costco Vanilla extract, and rehydrated EC-1118 for timely carbonation. Final gravity ended...

Separate Boils - Hopping Sparge Water

Does Morebeer (or anyone) sell those "HopBite" pre-isomerized hop concentrates individually?

I just poured 42 bottles of HB Dunkelweizen down the drain

Been using RO for a little over 2 years, and since ditching the tap water, I've only ever used Calcium Chloride, Gypsum, and baking soda (for dark beers). But I've always dumped everything from the boil kettle (tho hops are bagged), so maybe that's why not using nutrients for RO beer wort hasn't...

If the only reason you're adding nutrient is for a little zinc, I think you don't need to!

Yes, it hit 1020 after 3 days, and hasn't budged since. Just tasted another drop off of the hydrometer, if there's any weirdly fruity esters from the yeast running that warm, I'm not noticing it over the intense chocolatey flavor. It needs a little more body I think, and Brewers Friend suggests...

I have no idea what happened, but I don't think oxidation is going to give you "wet dog" aroma or "hot dog water" flavors. Did the wort taste fine? Maybe some grains were mis-labeled/spoiled/cursed... Did the beer taste fine (well, as good as flat, very young beer can taste) before bottling...

What are you listening to (music!!!) right now? Embarrassing or not... share

Achtung: Definitely on the **** side of songs/videos you should be watching! (umm, why are the not-safe-for-work initials censored? it was a warning to not click this link while one is at the office!)

    What are you drinking now?

My drunk-assed brain is struggling to parse that -- please post detailed recipe(s)!

I was listening to it, thought it effin' rocked, and posted it (without editorializing) to the thread asking "What Are You Listening To Right Now[...]". Supposedly 173,000 people die every day on this planet, and I think it's reasonable to say at least 1% of those humans were completely...

    What are you drinking now?

Brewers Best Peanut Butter flavoring. Comes in a 4 oz bottle, gets added to the bottling bucket. No muss, no fuss.

    What are you drinking now?

HB Cascade/Citra Pale Ale, it's a little hazier than I prefer, but it's delicious!

HB Peanut Butter Stout, tastes like I should have started a new batch of this 3 weeks ago!

Thanks for the reassurances... Gravity looks like it's down to 1032 (hydrometer), tasted a drop... I think it's gonna be just fine!

Anyone know what S-04 (I used a ginormous over-pitch, aka full yeast-cake yesterday afternoon) does at 72F? I forgot to swap out ice jugs this morning in the swamp cooler. When I checked on it just now, I see the temperature is at 72F. Smell seems pretty normal for a big chocolatey...
