Into the belly of the beast I go, wish me luck

Good luck! I'm just about to graduate med school. It's definitely a tough few years, but the feeling at the end is unbelievable! Just keep looking at the light at the end of the tunnel!

OK, which one of you losers is this?

Here's my medical opinion. To the person who said it was low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia for the fancy word), it isn't. Low blood sugar does cause motor symptoms, but it also causes confusion, aggression and reduced consciousness. He looks pretty conscious in what he is doing and isn't...

    Cheeto's Stock Pile

The heather ale is awesome, I'm a big fan of it.

What to try when Oxyclean won't get labels off?

Sand paper and steel wool. Comes off a treat.

The best advice from an old person

It takes a big man to cry. But it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

I can't handle that... home brew stuff

The first question I get when I mention I home brew is "is it any good?" then followed by an unconvinced look of disapproval. All the more decent beer for me I say.

    Transferring to pressure barrel

I've moved on to bottling. My pressure barrel leaked, and I don't really have the funds to move up to kegging just yet, but I will eventually.

    Indestructible Bottle Labels?!?

For the really stubborn labels that nothing else works for, I use sand paper after soaking them. Sand the label away, and then give it a scrub with a steel scourer before soaking it and rinsing it out well. Works like a charm.

A little treat I stumbled upon...

For true hero points, do a Mexican Centurion, which is every tenth shot instead of beer you have tequila. I've never seen anyone manage it and still be awake half an hour afterwards.

A little treat I stumbled upon...

When I was in University we used to do the Centurion, which is the same as a century club. 100 shots of beer in 100 minutes. Always done with BMC, don't waste good beer on a Centurion. Depending on your measures, it's about 5-6 pints in under an hour and a half. It was the downfall of...

Avoiding hops while transferring to bottling bucket

Ok so I currently have a rather large IPA in secondary that has been dry hopping with a good few ounces of cascade hops. It looks amazing, and the sneaky sample I had when racking it to secondary was fantastic. So I don't want to screw this up. It is in a carboy, with loose whole leaf hops...

...about that loud sound last night in the kitchen..

:) Well that didn't really enter my mind at the time. But then I'm in England and not many people have guns over here, so I figured I'd be safe. Plus, after a few homebrews I'm fairly sure I could dodge a bullet. Or atleast I feel like I could. Anybody else get that drunken superman...

Adding chocolate to a chocolate stout

I added 8oz of cocoa (make into a paste with water first) 10 minutes before the end of the boil. This resulted in a very nice level of chocolate taste, nice and balanced.

...about that loud sound last night in the kitchen..

I suffered an unfortunate bottle bomb a few weeks ago, and a huge bang in the middle of the nigh led to SWMBO shaking me awake and sending me downstairs armed with a baseball bat to check for robbers. All I found was a large mess of beer and glass. I went calmly back upstairs, got into bed...

    Transferring to pressure barrel

Make sure you dissolve the sugar in boiling water, and let this cool before adding it to the pressure barrel. Otherwise you'll struggle to dissolve it all. One other thing - don't add too much sugar because the pressure barrel tap will leak if the pressure inside is too great. The little air...

A few labels, a bottle and a beer!

Nope, the hops and oak tree graphics are from Google image search :) The text is put on using Paint Shop Pro.

A few labels, a bottle and a beer!

Hey everyone I'm fairly new to homebrewing, I'm only on my 5th batch of extract. Hoping to move to AG one day, but extract does me fine for now. A few pictures of a couple of labels I've made, as well as one on the bottle and the beer inside. Labels printed with a laser printer and stuck...
