    BIAB vs Mash Quality

I started BIAB about a year ago, and have medaled in a few competitions. Not to brag, but to point out that BIAB is valid. I think it's more process. QC, sanitation, recipe development, temp control, etc.

Adding a recirc pump to my BIAB setup

I have no problems using the Riptide. Not sure about the abilities of smaller pumps. You do get the advantage of better temperature control of the mash.

    Suggestions for first all-grain batch?

@coffeer0aster Join a Homebrew Club. You'll likely have no trouble finding someone to join you for your first brew and show you the ropes.

Inkbird 308 WIFI, what happens if it's without power? Does it reconnect to WIFI?

I've had mine unplugged for weeks between brews. It always reconnects when plugged in.

How to Cold Crash in Fermonster with Airtight Lid?

I've just crashed in the Fermonster (7.9 g). It did suck the sides in, but they pop back out with a little pressure, or return to original temp with no ill effects.

    Dry hopping techniques.

Or, do the hops in a muslin bag with magnets thing.

    Never had a NEIPA

There's also a fine line between fishing and sitting on the shore drinking a beer.

Dry hopping with fermonster closed system

Is a little O2 ingress during active fermentation a big deal, or are you dry hopping after fermentation is complete?

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

@Broken Crow Update - I doubled the amount of thread tape I was using, and it seems to have taken care of my NPT leaks. I used Blue Monster thread tape which feels thicker that the normal stuff.

Thanks! Nicely done article. I remember you soliciting photos, but never saw the finished article.

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

As Broken Crow mentioned, This was an attempt at his version. I had built your version, but found it finicky to get a seal. If I tighten to much, my silicone washers mush out between the post/nut and the lid. You wouldn't have links to the washers/seals would you?

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

Thanks, Broken Crow. Since I already have the one from Aliexpress, I'll keep trying to find a way to get a seal on that. Going forward, tough, I'm thinking Fermzilla. With all the parts, and depending on the model, Its getting comparable in costs. My LHB shop has the older flat bottom for...

No dip tube at all. And that piece is machined as one piece. No way to at one. PSA - don't buy this for this type of setup TAPCRAFT Homebrew 19/32-18 Ball Lock Post with 1/2 Inch NPT Thread Bulkhead Assembly New Ball Lock Post (Liquid+Gas) Amazon.com

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

Damn, maybe that's it. I bought some from Amazon, but the liquid post has no way to attach a dip tube! What do they expect you to do with that? Mount it at the bottom of your keg? Anyway, I bought another from Aliexpress. The threads seem to match like any other NPT, but even with tape and...

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

I finally got around to trying this. I'm having trouble getting the NPT joints to seal - even with thread tape. Did you have any issues?

number of 12oz bottles per 5 gallon batch???

You win! That's now the definition of a batch of beer. Congratulations!

number of 12oz bottles per 5 gallon batch???

Sounds more like one opinion. As I said, I've seen sources call a batch what's left in the kettle a batch. It may be a common opinion, but I don't think there's any definitive source that says "normal/typical convention" is what goes into the fermenter is a batch.
