I am in the exact same boat right now. I've been bottling conditioning for about 10 days now and it smells really bananaish but it barely has any banana taste. More of a clove taste. I have been Germany and tasted many Hefe's and they all taste slightly different. How long have you let it...
Just bottled this last night. I tried a sample from my hydrometer reading and it was a little tarty but had resemblance of banana and cloves. My FG was 1.012-1.014. I could never get a good reading for some reason.
My bucket lid cracked last night too. Except mine cracked on the edge. I was using the lid remover tool and prying it off cracked it I suppose. I wasn't using that much force but it cracked nonetheless. I am going back to my brew store to see if they will replace it because this is the 2nd brew...
I'm brewing a hefeweizen right now and I reached my FG and I'm ready to bottle. My beer has been in the primary fermenter for 3 weeks now. I have to to add 4.1 ounces of dextrose to my beer. Should I rack it into my PET carboy and wash my primary out and then re-rack it into my primary bucket or...
Yes, it was an extract kit. I did mash some oat and caramel wheat to add some body. If that is yeast clumped on top should I try to stir it in and break it up? Will, it try to eat more of the sugars or is my yeast pretty much done?
I just checked the brew to do a hydrometer reading and noticed this on top. I still can't get the hefe below 1.020 either. I used a Fermentis WB-06 yeast. I have been stuck on 1.020 for the last 5 days and now I'm on day 13 in the primary. Here's the pictures.
Is this normal or something...
Really? I had so much trub on the sides of my primary. It seems like it would get into the brew when I'm ready to bottle. Plus their is some junk on top of the brew that I don't want in the bottle.
I am brewing a hefe as we speak to. I am on day 8 of fermentation and if you read my thread you will understand what is going on. What does your timeline look like for your hefe?
How much longer should I wait before I rack? Also it is a hefe and I keep hearing that its one of the quickest beers to make. I have a lot of trub in my primary and I want to rack it to my secondary. How long should I keep in the secondary before I bottle it?
