I was interested in brewing a cheap punch base for margaritas

I asked a similar question awhile back about rum, and learned that its something you have to distill, which is really not discussed here. that said, what you do privately in your home is up to you. I dont see how it'd hurt anything to attempt to create a tequila by fermentation, since...

    What does $800 get you......

Nicely done! I'm sure you could devise a sterilizing unit out of that heating element plus some other stuff there from the old dishwasher. Personally, I would have gutted the old unit, and converted it into a sterilizing system of some variety for just about everything imaginable. steam...

    What'd ya get?

so far, a set of wheels, a pair of racing boots, and today, a new customer that will likely be bringing many friends of his to me as customers.

    motorcycles, who here rides one?

V twins are very fun bikes, but I'm partial to I4 motors. my next will be either an F3, or a 636 of 03/04 vintage for street.

It's so cute when SWMBO tries to do something nice, but...

BrewOnBoard you pretty much got it right there. I like your subtlety, although its not my thing. I'm the kind of guy that just prefers to be brutally honest, even if it hurts, unless its someone who happens to be in a kitchen full of hot liquids on stoves and sharp pointy things all over the...

How do you sign your credit card?

if I had a credit card, or something requiring a signature, I'd SO do that just for amusement. thanks, you just made my whole night worthwhile.

It's so cute when SWMBO tries to do something nice, but...

I dont really have a lot of experience with women, but my approach would be to carefully say, "Honey, I know you were thinking about me, and its the thought that counts the most, and I really appreciate it, but this stuff isnt something I like, but I tried it to see" really anything you say...

    motorcycles, who here rides one?

not really, but they look hot. I didnt have any idea we had this many motorcyclists here. Not that I'm complainin at all. Glad to see so many folks do the same thing I love.

    motorcycles, who here rides one?

I hear ya. I'm gonna sell my Hurricane soon because I'm tired of ALWAYS working on it. gonna get an F3 in its place and call it a day.

    motorcycles, who here rides one?

sitting here bored at home and depressed cause mine needs a head gasket I have to order and install. ugh. so who all here rides motorcycles and what do you have? I've got an 87 CBR600F. I really hate working on my own bike these days, but at the same time I wont trust my cycle to...

    Drinkability!?!?!WTF?

it is the crap that makes our homebrews that much more appreciable. the balance in the universe. I never really cared for budweiser crap honestly. I guess I should be grateful though, it is the first beer I ever tasted.were it not for that, I'd never have had an interest in beer, nor brewing.

    stuck at home. damn ford!

good to hear ya got it up the driveway. now, have you considered perhaps changing the grade of your driveway for the future so you dont have such an uphill battle? or maybe just the bronco with a little trailer? not tryin to be a wiseguy, but its an idea.

    stuck at home. damn ford!

IMO, ice sucks to drive on. I'd prefer to have something with a curb weight of 40K+ pounds, a big blade on the front and wide steel tracks to travel on that stuff. that or a Bobcat 863.

    stuck at home. damn ford!

OOOH! Superduty trucks! now you're talkin my language. I used to have a 93 Superduty 7.3 flatbed with the 5 spd. LOVED THAT BEAST. needed injectors and some more bleeding on the brakes, but it was freakin cool to drive. a DUI driver totalled it, err rather I totalled his minivan and...

The best supply find in a Lifetime!

actually, me too. :D oh yeah and a bucket or two. if you can do this stuff in a single bedroom apartment, I'm betting a 2 bedroom is plenty, although I share it with family, so yeah, gotta be kinda easy on how nuts I go with the setup.

    stuck at home. damn ford!

I always knew there was a reason I trusted older vehicles with a million miles more than these newer bubble cars that all look alike. I work on motorcycles for a living, so I can kinda relate in a way. I also see that the 87 Honda CBR I have despite being an ancient design by current...

    Thank God I'm a Man...

Yup, the shorter lines at the mens room is some sacred unwritten man law that must be honored. like not talking to or looking at the guy next to you at a urinal. I think the reason women actually take so long is they gotta move all their clothing just to do the deed, then get everything back...

brewing literature? any good stuff to get and read?

I appreciate the literature suggested. I certainly concur with you guys that this place is a massive wealth of information and knowledgeable people in the craft who can help, I just like to be able to read it step by step, rather than have to search/post a thread for all of my questions and...

The best supply find in a Lifetime!

now get yourself $100 and go back with a truck. seriously. I'd kill to have a place bigger than a 2 bedroom apartment to live in, cause honestly, I hate small places when I wanna brew anything.
