BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

Just received my Brucontrol Uniflex V2 (HUGE shoutout to @BrunDog ....I can already tell this system is going to totally rock!). I am outfitting a spike solo to be ~90% automated utilizing ~8 bidirectional 24V valves. Will post pics post-Uniflex integration :). Question for the group as I am...

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

Thanks so much for your thoughts. Any suggestions how best I can support the pipe/valves outlined in red (weight ~15-20lb)? The big red blob in this image will be the kettle which this valve line will connect. Was thinking i could use a stauff clamp to bolt around the leg of the stand and attach...

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

Adding 3x motorized valves (2x 3 way, 1x 1way) to a 1.5" TC weld (Spike solo)...are there any standard weight limits for TC welds? Not sure if this is too heavy

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

Nice job- very cool! Out of curiosity- do you have a bleed valve on your pump? I have the same pump and building with the same head orientation. Debating whether to add a bleed valve.

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

For extending the wires of your motorized valves (hot side), what is the easiest/fastest (and water tight) way of doing this? Thinking thermostat cable w/ heat shrink tubing to cover the soldered connection point. Previously built XLR cables (w/ nylon sheaths) for cold side automation...

    DIY Quick Carb

Not sure on excess tubing. I tried to replicate Blichmann's as closely as possible. If I remember correctly I thought there was a reason for 3 ft beer line on the beer out end (after passing through the "T". One thing I would do is to build this with a checkvalve at the gas port. I had a mess...

Mechanical pressure safety - what valves do I need?

I’m building a fully automated fermentation controller (Brucontrol) and want to ensure pressure (positive and negative) can be mechanically prevented given computer programming will drive this process. Mechanically, I’m making a safety assumption there could be faulty sensors, gas leaks, bad...

    Spike Gas Manifold Safety Warning

Good thread...one main question . I’m building a fully automated Arduino driven fermentation controller and want to ensure pressure (positive and negative) can be mechanically prevented given computer programming will drive this process. Mechanically, I’m making a safety assumption there could...

    muh's BruControl Build

Great build! Plastic or metal raceways? Debating between the two

    BruControl Build (completed)

Great build! Any issues with EMI? Building my panel right now and not sure what to isolate vs not. See you have the raceways built in...are your’s metal or plastic and did they come with the panel enclosure?

Review my wiring diagram? (BruControl fermentation automation)

Thanks for the great thoughts here. Would I be better off with a IRLML6344? Looking at the specs it appears I can use a 0-3.3V at gate. Thoughts?

Review my wiring diagram? (BruControl fermentation automation)

    2. How would I re-wire this per your comment that 3.3v is not going to be enough to operate the MOSFET? I didn't say 3.3V is not enough to operate this MOSFET. It just will not be open fully just partially. May be it would be enough to operate your coil or may be not. If you have your coil...

    Facelift for my control panel

I guess that makes sense...my cost is much higher as I am starting this build from 0 meaning no power supplies, enclosures, wiring, etc. etc.

Review my wiring diagram? (BruControl fermentation automation)

Thanks Peter! Let me update this per @brumateur1 suggestions and send over. Should be quite close.

Review my wiring diagram? (BruControl fermentation automation)

@brumateur1 Thanks for the thoughts here. This is super helpful. To summarize, seems like there are 2 protections we are taking: 1. Prevent ESP from overcorrect BACK into ESP through pin 23 2. Prevent EMI by adding in a pull down resistor to ensure MOSFET stays closed when pin is not configured...

Review my wiring diagram? (BruControl fermentation automation)

Hi All- I have finally decided to pull the trigger on automating my brewhouse. Starting with the cold side as I am a few months out from ordering my LODO Stout kettles. Cold side seems like an easier place to shake off the rust from my (light) comp sci/electrical eng university studies...

    Unitank users, please advise

Thanks again! Makes sense. So if I wanted to spund in keg, I could: 1. drop in hops toward end of ferm 2. let it dry hop for 2-3 days 3. Transfer via filter to keg 4. Spund beer in keg (zero oxidation) ^^During this process continue to closely watch gravity changes with respect to target...

    Unitank users, please advise

Good points- 2 things: 1. Assuming you are NOT spending beers which have been dry hopped (no yeast left). Correct? 2. Do you have a vacuum breaker TC installed? I have thought about adding a "Y" TC extension which has both the high press (15psi) manifold PRV AND vacuum breaker for low press (I...

    Unitank users, please advise

Thanks so much for all of this. Super helpful and appreciate the time you put into writing this. One quick follow up- what is your process for spending a beer you dry hopped? or is this not possible since you need to harvest yeast before dry hopping?

    Facelift for my control panel

Mind sharing your estimated total cost for the fermentation control? Starting to price this out for my build and want to ensure im not way off.
