    Raspberry Hard Lemonade

OR another thing you can do is a quick blanch of the fresh raspberries (to kill the nasties) and THEN freeze them to burst their cell walls and increase availability. The vodka soak works as well and can also be used to up your ABV should you desire to.

    Raspberry Hard Lemonade

I have had several mugs  and lessons learned. I immediately kegged it from secondary but learned that I should have run it through a filter/bag as it clogged my keg. Once it was filtered into a new keg, it pours, looks and tastes delicious. I just recently had a deck built around...

    Raspberry Hard Lemonade

Well, good and bad news. Good news - I got it kegged, a little carb'd and sampled. Bad news - In my excitement of racking it, I didn't strain it and now it wont pour steadily/consistently. :agressive: Guess I get to re-rack into a new keg but with a brew bag to catch the sediment. Oh, and...

New England IPA Blasphemy - No Boil NEIPA

Well, add another to the list of 'believers' for this recipe. If you read my previous posts, I did a 1 gallon batch (which got dumped) and redid another 1 gallon batch more correctly. It had been in the keg for a week or so, and I decided to try to force carb it (only to find out my CO2...

    Raspberry Hard Lemonade

2 weeks in the ferm cab, and I just racked my very first lemonade onto the raspberries to rest for ~week or so before going into the keg. This was a 2.5-3gal batch and if it comes out as hopeful as I think it will, I may have to invest in some larger dedicated equipment to keep it on tap...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Jalapeno Cream Ale

Going to finally take the plunge on this tomorrow in a 3 gallon batch. Only difference being is I had Everclear 151 as opposed to wodka for my pepper extraction. I don't think it will make a dramatic difference unless I strictly use the tinct for adjunct. Excited!

New England IPA Blasphemy - No Boil NEIPA

Okay, so I dumped the first batch and re-approached it - but with a different yeast MADE for ales (not a wine yeast) and table sugar vs. dextrose this time. My measurements were simple math /5 to get my 1 gallon measurements. I can say that it immediately had a more vigorous fermentation...

New England IPA Blasphemy - No Boil NEIPA

I think I have already set myself up for experimentation failure enough thus far. :p At least its only a gallon.

New England IPA Blasphemy - No Boil NEIPA

Fair enough. I will adjust my expectations accordingly 🤣 I guess I just figured dextrose ~=~ turbinado Im a re-noob to the hobby again (hence my small batches) Lesson learned (Im hoping) Ill do better next time :D

New England IPA Blasphemy - No Boil NEIPA

Well, I just took a swing at this potential abomination. And did a 1.25G batch. Loosely sanitized my equipment. Dumped in the RO water. Poorly measured ~1+lbs of DME and ~.5+lbs of dextrose. Stirred poorly - its lumped and clumped to hell. Pitched the remainder of a packet of Redstar...

    Raspberry Hard Lemonade

Thanks for the pointers and pants kickings everyone. This is my 2nd brewing cherry pop and another one of my hangups is overthinking and not starting. So, I basically cut the recipe in half and I have it in my SS mini. I think I am going to dig brewing half batches as a reentry - and I think...

    Raspberry Hard Lemonade

Heh, thats kind of what I was thinking (filter mostly for post trub and racking follies) But I plan to dump the initial concoction into the primary. Whether I attempt to filter it or not remains to be seen. My setup is mostly geared towards smaller batches. I have a SS Brew mini conical, and...

    Raspberry Hard Lemonade

And the adventures in homebrewing continue in true (slapstick method me) fashion. I went to my local grocery store today but they only had 8 cans of the generic lemonade. Plus 4 cans of Minute Maid lemonade. And one can of Minute Made limeade. They also had zero bags of raspberries, but thats...

When does the itch/irritation finally cease? (Facial Hair)

After 50+ years, I have finally decided to COMMIT to growing out my facial hair (unshaped currently) and damn if it doesn't itch and irritate me when I scratch or rub it. I have worn mustaches, goatees, and chops in the past, but for the most part I have remained clean shaven mostly because...

    Welcome back to me?

Thank you everyone for your suggestions and insights. Call it kismet or whatever - I managed to find a heckuva deal on Craigslist similar to my setup when I got out the first time. It boasts a keezer, ferm cab, conical fermenter, kegs and a ton more. The catch - its all for smaller (sub...

How long to long in Primary is a problem?

Back in the day, I used to leave my batches for at least a month. As long as you leave it undisturbed and it didn't get an infection along the way you should be golden.

    Dry Hopping "After" Kegging?

Ive dry hopped in a keg in the past with no issues. I believe it was one of those tea balls and it was fine. I think I might have had a little more sediment in my pours but it was kind of a non issue.

New Launch - Free Test for Wireless Dual Probe WiFi BBQ Thermometer

Inkbird is pretty much the standard when it comes to my temp monitoring and PID control. Bravo on another product launch!

    Welcome back to me?

Holy cow, its been over 16 years since I opened my account and went hard down this rabbit hole before interest waned and I sold off my stuff. Sadly for me, this is a recurring happenstance for most ALL of my hobbies. RC truck madness - Check. LoS/FPV drone madness (x2) - Check. Aircooled...

    Re-reintroduction (of sorts)

Yeah, I think my old av was a pic of me, and a couple of OG fighters. While many things have changed, my love of combat sports hasn't :) Nor has my love of beer.
