    Visiting Cincinnati

A Hoffbrau house is right across the river in KY. I had a great time there once. http://www.hofbrauhausnewport.com/

    turkey fryer vs stock pot

You can add one to yours. I did to my 15 gallon pot. Love it. To OP, get the biggest pot you can afford and store. You will want to make 10 gallon batches eventually. Trust me.

    Bell's The Oracle Double IPA

Yeah, I've had it. A friend brought a six pack back from the brewery. I would say that it's good, but not great. B+ maybe. Two Hearted and Hopslam are both better. I love hops though, so I'm always happy to see another hoppy brew from a good brewery.

    Favorite Rye Beers

Founders Red's Rye is good. Bear Republic's Hop Rod Rye is terrific. Shmaltz Brewing Company's He'Brew Bittersweet Lenny's R.I.P.A. is very good too. They even have a version of that aged in Rye whiskey barrels, which is real good as well. I made a HRR clone that I beefed up the hop bill on...

    Fresh Hop Ales

Is the only way to get the fresh hop taste to add them after fermentation, or can you get a similar effect by adding them to the boil?

    ska brewing

Modus is great. Perfect beer to sneak on to the golf course in your bag. They also have a very good canned APA: Euphoria. And their Decadent IIPA is pretty nice too. Thumbs up.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewing Pliny again Sunday, after partying all night at my friends wedding the night before. It's going to be really rough. I hate getting all sweaty when I'm really hungover.

    $16 Barleywine...

FFF's Behemoth is about $17 per 22oz bottle. Worth every penny. As are all the RRB weird, funky, wild, sour beers. I pay roughly $24 to get those shipped to me. Temptation is to die for.

less corn sugar for 22oz bottles?

If you're filling a variety of bottle sizes, I'd use the normal amount. However, my RIS was over carb'd because I used the normally recommend amount of priming sugar and bottled in all 22oz bottles. The next imperial I bottled in 22oz bottles was a barley wine, for which I reduced the sugar...

Beers judged to best have high ABV on beer advocate.

I'm not surprised at the overall feeling of BA.com on here. There a lot of pretentious blowhards on that site. I do find it a very useful website when browsing the liquor store however. First of all, when looking at the top rated beers of course the rarity will effect the rating. People...

    Dry hopped Brett beer

I'm a little late to the party here, but Victory does this with Wild Devil, which is their IPA (Hop Devil) aged with Brett. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/345/42546 http://victorybeer.com/beers/wilddevil/ For what it's worth, I liked it.

BrewDog, still not beer, 55% ABV, £500/bottle, Dead Animal Bottles

I love them. I think these guys are hilarious even though I don't really like their beer. Pretty sure it's harvested roadkill.

    Fridge/Freezer for fermentation chamber

It will work as it's just an external control (circumventing the internal thermostat), I'm just concerned about how it will effect the freezer really. Will I have to relocate 10# of hops whenever I want to brew a lager? I sure hope not.

    Fridge/Freezer for fermentation chamber

I have a vertically split fridge/freezer in my basement, that is used basically for beer and hops storage. Is there any reason I can't use this with a Johnson Controls A19 as a fermentation chamber for lagers? Is there any more stress to the fridge or freezer compressor than normal use? And...

    BierMunchers Rolling Kegerator (BYO Published)

For sure. Basic construction is complete, but we still need to bling it up more before the party, and before I post any pics.

    BierMunchers Rolling Kegerator (BYO Published)

FYI, I'm building one of these for a party later this month. I found a suitable garbage can at Menards for $15!

    Barley Wine bottle conditioning

I have a friend that had some issues with cold crashing beer before carbing it. It didn't carb right because so much yeast dropped out of suspension. I'd bottle it before cold crashing, and then put bottles in the fridge after giving it proper time to carb up. All the sediment will drop out...

Barley Crusher Owners - What's a good gap setting?

I think factory settings are supposed to be .039, however mine were not. I have heard .035 thrown around a lot by folks on this board as about as close as you'd want to go unless you're milling conditioned malt.

Bar;ey Crusher! Barley Crusher! Barley Crusher!

I used to get 65% with my LHBS crush. After getting a BC using factory settings, I consistently get 81-83%. Worth every penny.

    carbonation

I don't think it matters. The lines hold pressure, and the pressure should equalize all the way up the lines to the tap. I have carbed kegs on tap before w/o issue.
