NoSparge -> Sparge = Affect on gravity?

Can you help me to understand the difference between mash effiency and conversion effiency?

NoSparge -> Sparge = Affect on gravity?

Thanks for this. A lot of wisdom to lurn from. I will🍻

NoSparge -> Sparge = Affect on gravity?

It has and the minium is that 12L. So if I use that (as I did) and rinse after that with spargewater doesnt it lower the overall gravity? Or does rinsing mean something else in this?

NoSparge -> Sparge = Affect on gravity?

Yes I use BrewFather. I just havnt seen anywhere that you could start with less than 12 litres... but maybe I´ll check that my self. Or If anybody knows the answer already..?

NoSparge -> Sparge = Affect on gravity?

Hi. In my case the 2,8Kg of malt is the maxium for BM10 so adding more malt isnt really an option. And if I rinse, wont the Preboil gravity go down? If I could use 10 litres of water for mash and 2 for sparge it would give me better numbers, but with BM10 its instructed to start with 12 litres.

NoSparge -> Sparge = Affect on gravity?

Hi Im a former biab user and just now I have updated my system with Braumeister 10 litre version. I have a question about the affect of sparge and effiency. So, I have done one mash with 2.8kg of malts and 12 l of water... and I used no-sparge. With this the mash-effiency was 59%, Preboil...

Longer boil + topoff. Latehops only. Same result?

Good point. I'm not worried about not making good beer from this. Just wondering if the numbers work like this. Do you think they do? Ps. I know same numbers don't make same taste (necessary).

Longer boil + topoff. Latehops only. Same result?

I designed a recipe that has only whirpool hops after 60min boil and dryhops later. I had a little family emergency and the boil time something like 95 minutes. So there was more boiloff and less wort after the boil. I still use the same amount of hops as in the recipe (just whirpool and...

    Brewfather & Smallbatch BIAB

Ok. I think I found my remaining problem. I didn't calculate the temperature expansion to boil off. Before I compared preboil to cooled wort. When comparing preboil to cooled wort*1.04 I get about the right numbers.... I think...

I actually would like to be able to choose and lock the total water amount used and then chance the other values after that. But I guess that's not possible.

    Brewfather & Smallbatch BIAB

I know. In BF there is possibility choose that do you insert the preboil volume (FB calculates boil off) or do you insert boil off (FB calculates pre boil volume). And with all the info it calculates the total water amount needed. And I can't get these match unless I enter some variable that...

One more stupid question : is the preboil volume in BF the volume after the mash and squeeze? Somehow those calculations in BF gives me too small boiloff rate...

Man I should have been wake in a maht class. So this starting to make more sense now.

    Brewfather & Smallbatch BIAB

    Oh no! So it's something like this: (6.4l - 6l) / 1xkg = 1.066kg/l

I'll take your advice and measure this next brew again. But is the formula like this: Weight of (wet) grains after mash and squeeze - Grains before mash = Grain absorption rat*e (l/kg?

    Brewfather & Smallbatch BIAB

I mean that with exact measured numbers the malts weighted 980g and after the mash and squeezes the bag weighted 991g. Of course there are more water than the 11g because the grains gave up the sugars... Right? I believe it is easyer o squeeze more out of 1kg than for example 20kg bag.

I'm having hard time to configure my equipment profile in brewfather. I have a 7 litre kettle. I star brewing by heating 6.4 litres of cold water. After adding water additions I separate 1.4 litres to another kettle (for dump Sparge later). So now my volume is 5l in main kettle. I heat that...

Beer gun with bottling bucket (not Keg)?

Thanks for answer. The single-wand and single-handed operation is exactly what i´m trying to get ...plus trying to save some time. Maybe I´ll try this with some cheap china beergun :)

Beer gun with bottling bucket (not Keg)?

Does anyone use beergun with bottling bucket? My process is now to purge the bottle and then use spigot and a bottling wand to put the beer in the bottle and then purge the headspace and cap the bottle. (I add the priming sugars to the bottles before the first purge.) Im wondering if I could...
