    Michelob amber "fake" bock. pretty tasty despite being a simple thin beer! received a case for recent birthday and NO beer goes ignored in my house, well maybe bud lite, Miller, coors, heineken, etc! Still in mourning over the demise of terrapin double rye ipa, and it's been years... sniff!

    if wanting a different imp porter, skip the overload of hops, substitute half of your crystal 90 with Simpson's drc. yeah I'm just not a huge hop guy. drc us nice stuff.

    Probably drinking mud in a cup! I met a guy in nyc who said old rasputin was a bit watery.... i told him to stop trying new beers after major dental work! I think the ones saying drool is watery simply ADDED too much water!

    This beer has an amazing 568 reviews on NB with only a few negative. Most bad saying it's watery or yeast problems. I prefer buying my own ingredients so i can tweak recipe. I stopped using black patent some time ago, sub with German Carafa Special Type III Fingers crossed! Original. NB...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

    Started a 2.5 gallon chocolate rye pale ale. Extract with speeping gains. 7.17% abv. Think it will be nice. Gonna try my hand at BIAB after the new year if home by then, I believe I'll enjoy that. Cheers!

    Thanks for ALL of the tips guys, had not thought of those things! will give it all a try. I believe i've concluded that none of the software out there is set up to do recipes very accurately with 2.5 gallon batches, especially with the methods i want to try. tricky on ibu's since i want to try...

    First of all, hello! I brew 2.5 gal batches. Have always steeped speciality grains in 2-3 quarts as it was suggested to keep ph down and reduce tannins. Ok - then I add that thin wort to boil pot making total of 1.25 gal water for my boil. Then add 8 oz dme to add some sugars for the hops...
