So the kids bought me a Kegerator

Making it in 5 gallon batches (BIAB). But this new toy kind of opens up a new world. I live just north of Seattle and I'm thinking I can go to a number of breweries around here and have a corny keg filled while my batch is fermenting. I have a Spike 5 gallon fermenter and really wish I'd spent...

So the kids bought me a Kegerator

Got a Kegerator from the kids for my birthday. The gave me the web page to show me the unit. Due to supply chain issues, the thing took about 6 months to be delivered. It does not come with a keg. So..I try to get ahead of the game and go out and buy a corny keg. It has two ball lock connections...

Adding co2 to my new Spike CF-5 Conicle

Agreed. After doing some regulator research, the Three gauge is the way I'm going to go. It's more than I need in the near term, but I want to get equipment that I won't outgrow. Taprite seems to get decent reviews. Thanks

Adding co2 to my new Spike CF-5 Conicle

I don't have the CO2 gear yet so I do need to use the bucket for the batch I'll be bottling next week. When I do get the CO2 gear I'd like to try bottling from directly from the fermenter. I'll look around this site for a thread on that subject. Thanks

Adding co2 to my new Spike CF-5 Conicle

I have my first batch in the CF-5. I'm one week away from bottling. I had to pick up the fermenter and put it on a table to gain enough height to transfer the beer into my bottling bucket on bottling day next Saturday. My first use of the CO2 gear will not be a closed pressure transfer. It will...

Adding co2 to my new Spike CF-5 Conicle

Hi Iso, I'm fairly new to brewing. I know I like it and I'm also into buying good tools. It's going to take me awhile to gear up to put together the system I want to build. I'm starting with the fermenter as temperature control is a priority. Next I'm going to get the CO2 gear to practice...

Adding co2 to my new Spike CF-5 Conicle

Hi all, I recently purchased a CF-5 and about $600 in accessories. I currently have a batch fermenting. To get the full benefits of the equipment, I need to get a CO-2 tank and the Spike Gas Manifold Package with the Spike Closed Pressure Transfer Kit. (these two items are not in the $600 in...

    How long an Extract Brewer?

I've been brewing 5 gallon extract batches for a year. I'm 61 and am going to pull the retirement plug at 66.5. I'm looking forward to brewing as a hobby in my retirement years. To that end, I've started with a Blichmann Hellfire burner and a Spike 15 Gallon brew kettle. ...My next purchase...

    Hello from WA State.

Hi, Yes, I took a sample directly from my Kettle after chilling down to 70 degrees . I have a Spike Kettle with gallon markings on the inside of the Kettle. Volume was just over 5 gallons (like 5 1/8) so it probably was a little diluted. I opened the butterfly valve a little way and put a...

    Hello from WA State.

Well Shhhhhhhhoot.......Brewed my first 5 gallon extract Kit (Northern Berewer) using my new equipment in the garage. This is my 3rd 5 gallon Kit and the first two came out Perfectly from OG to exact ABV in the final product. I brewed these two on the stove. This 3rd one should have had an OG...

    Hello from WA State.

Hi, been brewing for 6 months or so, and really have the bug. I started with 5, 1 gallon extract brews......Just finished my 2nd - 5 gallon batch using extract kits . The 2- 5 gallon kits I've brewed were on the stove using 3 gallons in the steep, boil , then adding distilled water to bring the...
