I used the 2 part Super Kleer after stabilizing, worked like a champ! I’m very happy with this can’t wait to get more. Might try carbing it next time, but it’s nice still too.

Show us your cider in a photo!!!

I have a question. I am getting the left over strawberry juice from packages of frozen strawberries. I did already add some to a cider I had brewing but would like to add some more at the end for sweetening and flavor. How would one go about clearing the juice? I ran it through 2 strainers so...

I need to try this. You fermented your cider first down to 1.004 then added the blackberries, did you stabilize first before adding or did you go for carbonated cider?

Sugar Choice For Root Beer Recipe

I’m experimenting with root beer also. I found it does need the molasses from brown sugar and really needs wintergreen or some sort of mint added. I started with Hires Big H extract, it is OK but added ginger, clove, and mint. Really made a difference. (I like some bite in my root beer).

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

I warmed the water up first before adding the honey. Not sure where I saw that advise at, but it worked out great. Heat water in a pan, remove from heat and let stand for a few minutes (don’t want a hot spot on pan) then add honey. I’m using a 1.5 gallon wide mouth fermenter OG 1.110.

Sugar Choice For Root Beer Recipe

What I did was took the idea from caramel apple cider (I love that stuff) and used half light brown sugar, half regular table sugar and carmelized it before adding it to my mix. Just bottled up 12-12oz bottles and set aside a test batch going to let it ferment out. I’ll let you know after it...

Sugar Choice For Root Beer Recipe

So??? How did it work out? I am just starting a batch of root beer and found multiple suggestions on sugar choice! Brown sugar being the most common. Think I’ll make small batches with variations and come up with a recipe.

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

This made me laugh! Reminded me of when I was a kid working on a farm. Mom and dad moved from the city to a small farm in Northern Illinois and I worked for a local farmer, one day mom made supper for us, farmer sat down and exclaimed “creamed corn, great we need the extra protein” confused mom...

    Everyday Simplest Dry Cider

I had to chuckle when I read this thought to myself “hey, your not the only one!” LOL I bet I check my carboys dozen times or more during the course of the day. Bottling time I must look like a mad scientist
