Finally got a chest freezer need advice on most effective way to set up temp control

Hey guys! So I finally found a chest freezer that was big enough for my two fermenters and also has room in case I decide to brew bigger batches. I used my Ink-Bird temp controller on my kegerator for the last batch of beer I brewed so I have a decent idea of how it works. For the kegerator, I...

    Question about yeast starter’s?

This is exactly what I do. At 18-24 hours I have a nice milky colored starter. Then right in the fridge until I'm ready to pitch!

Do flip-top bottles work for bottle conditioning?

That makes me feel better. I definitely did not replace the seals when I picked them up, but I did check each one for cracks. Found 2 with cracks and replaced them with ones from other bottles. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see what happens. If a few don't carbonate properly, is there a...

Do flip-top bottles work for bottle conditioning?

Your right. I was just being overly cautious. I checked with a toothpick. No air getting in these bottles. Phew.

Do flip-top bottles work for bottle conditioning?

I have read all over the place that flip-tops are an awesome and convenient way to bottle your beer. I went out today and picked up a case and have been filling up my latest Pale Ale's. I noticed as I was filling that the flipping mechanism goes into a couple holes on the side of the neck(you...

OK. I'm done letting my beer sit in the garage while praying to the temperature gods for mercy.

Ok so I gave up on the last one, size wasn't right. I've decided since I'm young and my back can handle it to go with a chest freezer. It will fit much better in the space I have. I found this unit for free on craigslist. Talked to the guy and he says it works fine. He upgraded to a standup...

Brewing a robust porter and need some advise on kettle top up water...BIAB

What is your batch size? This recipe is for 5.5 gallons, 0.5 gallons loss to chill and the fermenter. What is your expected efficiency? I could definitely use some advice on how to properly calculate this. This will be my 11th batch and I started using beersmith about 2 batches ago. Is there...

Brewing a robust porter this weekend and need some advice!

According to beersmith, for the 13.81 Lbs of grain I need for my recipe, I would need 10.13 gallons of available space in my Kettle/Mashtun. I'm currently brewing with a 10-gallon kettle so I know that something needs to be adjusted. Also should mention that this is the first recipe I'm doing...

OK. I'm done letting my beer sit in the garage while praying to the temperature gods for mercy.

I love advice like this! For some reason I'm always overlooking simple solutions. The other day I was thinking up ways to be able to tell when my kegs were about to kick. I must have thought of 15 different ways, all of which were a pain in the butt. Then someone on this forum was like, "Dude...

OK. I'm done letting my beer sit in the garage while praying to the temperature gods for mercy.

It's actually a stand up frostless Kenmore Freezer. Is this not what I should be looking for? Also, you don't think I'll be able to fit two six-gallon carboys in it if I Build a shelf and remove the door panels? Thanks for your input daytripper!

Got a new burner (Bayou Classic) need some advice on boiling wort!

The idea is that you want the complete the circuit inside the box that the timer is in. I'm pretty sure whats going on is that when you turn the timer on, it completes the circuit and once it's done, it closes the circuit. Inside the box, you'll see two wires coming down into the timer...

Got a new burner (Bayou Classic) need some advice on boiling wort!

That good to hear. I have the same model. I was just so happy to toss that turkey fryer that I didn't even think about the difference in flame intensity. That blue flame is no joke! Thanks for your input!
