It was a great way to spend a refund check btw ;)

General questions on counterflow chillers, whirlpools, etc...

If you add cold water, adjust the amount of sparge water in w/e program you use and add the difference between the lower and higher amounts of water

This is why I love our 50A panel. Heat your Boil to your strike water and let the HLT sit at the normal temp.

    Now What?!

In Canada, 10/3 is good for 30A O/C, which is ment for 80% load (24A). However if the load is known, you could run 100% as long as the O/C’s are rated for it. O/C = Over Current Edit: seoow could be rated for less however.

    Northern Brewing's Refractometer?

When would you be trying to take a reading after carbonation

    Northern Brewing's Refractometer?

I thought you couldn’t use a refractometer during and after fermentation because of the sugar and alcohol content in them

    Inkbird Calibration Failure

Is there a reason you have to put it in water? Just curious.

    Sight glasses, why?

I have one going into my mash during recirculation

    SS Brewtech Ekettle

This panel is really using proprietary parts. ex. You can't replace probes, you can't replace the heating elements cord *attached to the panel* The heating element also has the probe built in This is just my opinion.

    Question for Spike Unintank owners.

How many people leave feedback in general? I haven’t left any reviews/feedback for spike/ssbrewtech or stout which I own all. So if you only hear about the bad ones, how do you really compare? I don’t leave reviews for many things tbh, mostly because I’m lazy. I’ve heard and read bad things...

    Question for Spike Unintank owners.

Honestly, the question I would have is how many are really affected, how many are sold? Hard to say what % of bad ones. I prefer the design of the SSbrewtech because you always have a PRV/pressure gauge and blow off port. Pressure gauge is also noticely better. Spike you have to disconnect...

    Question for Spike Unintank owners.

Also not a big fan of Spikes top, the gasket is a pain to get on by yourself. Keg lube helps a bit. Where as the 8” Tc is much easier to work.

    Question for Spike Unintank owners.

I have both, personally I just recirculate through either my boil or HLT and use the CIP while continuously heating the water, worked well. The spike you can take the top off and have easy access, however the spike also doesn’t come with anything, you pretty much get the shell, where as the SS...

    Passivate equipment...

Stout does, I cleaned mine really well with a non scented soap (ivory) then used bar keepers friend for the inside. I don’t think I used bad keepers friend on the fermenters, however I might run some through my CIPs for them.

    Omron E5CC settings

Ah, those seem to be better then the ones I have, I ordered one twist lock as a back up incase one of them leak again.. I’m not sure how the twist lock ones work, if they’re welded to the Triclamp or threaded.. Mine was threaded in the center, had to use some liquid pipe thread to seal it...

    Omron E5CC settings

What type of elements are you using? I had ordered the same type as the Spikes and one had ended up leaking into the housing causing the breaker to trip.

25th Brew on Electric Spike System

That is why I’m glad I got pots with Triclamp. Spike was late to offer them so I had to go with another brand.

Impressions of Spike 15gal Electric System

For your false bottom, buy some stainless steel scrubbies, let them soak in PBW for a couple of days before brewing. Place it on your outlet tube. Just make sure the false bottom is still sitting flat.
