Well...I am 98% sure I have my first infection.

That looks okay to me. I made a big stout for my brothers wedding several years ago, and bottled it before the yeast was done, even after aging it (three months primary, racked three batches into a speidl for two month batch secondary bulk aging). I have had one bomb yet (bottled in 2013), but...

The Dysfunctional-Palooza Obnoxious Masshole BS Thread

I can comfortably sleep 8. 24 if you don't mind cuddling. Pair up with the oysterfest and we're in for a hell of a time.

The Dysfunctional-Palooza Obnoxious Masshole BS Thread

Hey massholes. I've finally retired to the Cape, and am getting my pipeline up and running again. Any of you degenerate ****ers CCLAMS? I'll be looking at unloading my king kooker cart (i have an edelmetall and an electric set up, this just takes up space) for a sixer, and was wondering about...

    Cycling kombucha

I've never made kombucha before, but have a girl that loves it, and may be moving up soon. Is it possible to cycle it? put the whole thing in a 6g bucket with a spigot, draw some off, add some in? If I draw off and bottle, does it retain enough bugs and sugar to self-carb in a bottle? Edit...

    Show us your Kegerator

After 23 years in the Navy, and nearly a decade of brewing, I’m finally retired to my forever home, with space to build and house a kegerator. I made dis

High Gravity Brewing vs Brew Boss vs Another Electric Brewing Setup

I just ran my first batch through my HG SBV system weekend before last, and I'm a convert. Holy crap was it amazing.

    Sour Barrel

So age it in there like you would any other barrel-aged beer. Roger. Some sour place in ME. I can't recall the brewery. I'll have him ask why they gave it up. That's a good point. As far as a holding solution in the barrel, what would you recommend? I'm still new to the barrel thing...

    Sour Barrel

So a friend of mine managed to procure a barrel that was used to age a Flemish Red, and we are interested in reusing it for that exact same thing. Should we dig up a recipe, and put the wort in there; or is it like aging other beers, where you put in the finished beer? How long would we let it...

Just starting to look at eBIAB. Halp.

Oh...I guess that is my problem. I am a Sailor...:tank:

Just starting to look at eBIAB. Halp.

I was worried about that. Tough to be cheap AND lazy. I'll see what it takes to run 240 to my garage. Because who only brews 5g at a time?

Just starting to look at eBIAB. Halp.

So, after 20 years of being a Sailor, and 7 years brewing (4 AG BIAB), I've finally landed at my forever home. I am still on propane, but looking at a simple 120v BIAB set-up that could still accommodate 10g brews (top-up water is ok). I have a 62 qt SS pot/basket. would this heater coupled...

What bag does everyone use for BIAB?

Yeah, some googlefu revealed that a 15x15 basket was $155 for 400 micron. More googlefu reveals that 400 micron mesh is just expensive as hell anyway.

What bag does everyone use for BIAB?

I use the basket from my BC 62qt and a home-made voile bag (that I've been using for over a year). I do have a question though...for anyone else using their basket and an oven rack to drain and squeeze their grains, have you though about using a steel mesh screen "permanently" installed in...

Will this cheap 3500 watt induction burner work?

    AWESOME. :ban:

Will this cheap 3500 watt induction burner work?

Anyone tried getting a bigger boil going? I have the 62qt BC stainless, and was wondering if anyone tried a 12g boil for a 10g batch.

    Wood aging a RIS

I'm only about a year into my first foray with funk (alliteration. yeeeeeah), a wheat I just wasn't happy with, so I dumped a Brett blend, some extra LME, a mess of raspberries, a giant pixie stick...i think that's it...anyway, that's the extent of my funk experience. With the timeline on this...

    Wood aging a RIS

Last time I boiled wood to sanitize, I got some serious tannins out of it. I'm not sure if cedar would behave similarly, but I can't see why not. I can give it a shot, at any rate. I don't know why I didn't think to bake the box to sanitize it... A guy from the home brew club is recommending...
