How did I do for this CO2 tank

I spund my stouts to pre-carb them. Still only getting 4-5 kegs out of a tank of beer gas. It was $45 for last exchange at my LHBS. BTW, they refill 5lbs CO2 on premise for $19. They only get about 4.4 lbs in it though. Maybe I need to shop around for larger beer gas tank.

    Economical Brewing

Good thread. I too am cheap.. I have really saved on my CO2 refills by using fermentation gas to purge dry hop and serving kegs. I also save "empty" serving kegs with the pressure still in them to push beer from a fermenter keg to dry hop keg and then to serving keg. Not only saves money but is...

Kegland Duotight Inline Regulator for Cold Crashing?

Amazon has this Marshal regulator it lists the Inlet/Outlet Connection as: 1/4 inch FNPT Inlet x 3/8 inch FNPT Outlet. Will this work for the input (is NPT the same as FNPT)? I don't see a 3/8" duotight, so I guess I would need a reducer.

Kegland Duotight Inline Regulator for Cold Crashing?

@day_trippr Wow, that is a neat idea. What type of thread do you suppose is on the regulator, 1/4 NPT or BSP? Is it the same on both ends? Looks like you have 2 adapters on the output side. So my other need for a low pressure regulator is carbonating my nitro stouts. I carb with co2 then...

Kegland Duotight Inline Regulator for Cold Crashing?

@micraftbeer that is an awesome idea! Much less risk ($) if it fails.

Kegland Duotight Inline Regulator for Cold Crashing?

Thanks @mac_1103 the mylar balloon is the poor man's version of the cold crash guardian. I have plenty of extra duotight fittings and looking for a way to use them. lol Does anyone have experience with any regulator at such a low pressure?

Duotight For Perlick Shanks?? And EVABarrier length

Thanks @Bobo1898 I will look for an available kit. @RyPA I have 3 taps and would like to see if I can not spend the $60. It's not that I am cheap, no wait, I am cheap:)

Duotight For Perlick Shanks?? And EVABarrier length

I have been searching for an answer and this seemed like a good thread. I have the same setup, 5+ year old tower with 630SS faucets. It is time for new lines and I want to switch to Eva. I want to start by trying to put the Eva Barrier tubing over the barbs on the shanks. I have never worked...

What to do with Lallemand Koln (Kolsch) yeast?

The links that @balrog gave had good ideas, American Brown Ale I am thinking first, maybe a Shiner Bock clone. I already have my Oktoberfest layering. Did it traditionally this year, cold with a German yeast.

What to do with Lallemand Koln (Kolsch) yeast?

Thanks for the ideas. I will be saving the cake. Looks like you can brew a lot of things with this yeast.

What to do with Lallemand Koln (Kolsch) yeast?

Just brewed my first Kolsch. It is fermenting with 2 packs of Lallemand Koln yeast. Looking for ideas on what I can pitch on the yeast cake when it is done. What have you tried and what were the results?

    Phantasm NEIPA

Great to see phantasm being sold to the public, I definitely want to try it. It will be great to hear your results. Anyone know if this stuff dissolves in beer or does it suck up beer like hops do?

Cosmic Punch (OYL-402) by Omega Yeast Labs

Thanks @sweetcell Well, I don't want the taste to be all muddled, so many flavors that they clash. Which 2 should I start with? Citra:Mosaic? Galaxy:Strata??

    Verdant IPA yeast best practices

I tried using both 1 and 2 packs of Verdant for 5.5 gallon 1.080ish brews. With 1 pack tried both rehydrating and just sprinkling on top. I couldn't tell a difference. Definitely needed the blow off tube for all of them. Elsewhere on the forum people were talking about using 1 pack of Verdant...

Cosmic Punch (OYL-402) by Omega Yeast Labs

Looking to get back to some Cosmic Punch NEIPA. I have new 1/2 lb bags of Calypso, Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy and Strata. Got the Calypso for the mash and was thinking about 2 oz each of the others in dry hop (8 oz for 5g batch). Going to try skipping the hop stand this go around. Any favorite combos...

Adding DME to starter in progress

Thanks @IslandLizard! I see the problem with not increasing the volume. I don't often start out with a new liquid yeast, mostly dry or slurry. I usually wake a slurry up on brew day with a vitality starter for 4-6 hours. For the occasions when I do get a new liquid yeast I like to overbuild and...

Adding DME to starter in progress

I mostly use dry yeast or slurry to avoid the whole starter mess. I say mess because I always seem to have an overflow from the flask on the stir plate. I only have a 2l flask and brew 5 gallon batches of ~1.070 wort. I don't think my stir plate can handle a 5l flask so I don't really want to go...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Glad you liked Strata. Did you get much strawberry from it? Hmmm, any strawberry flavor? What sort of hop bill did you have? Any chance that overpowered the yeast?

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Has anyone tried the Omega Sundew yeast in a NEIPA? I like the strawberry description. Never tried Strata hops either but it lists strawberry flavor as well. All the sudden I want a strawberry beer!
