FoodSavers won’t seal a Mylar bag. But since the Yakima Valley bags have zipper-type seals, you might be able to use the FoodSaver to suck out the air and then stop it before it has time to heat up the sealer. I’m traveling or I would give it a try.

I highly recommend getting a copy of John Palmers How to Brew, 4th edition. It will teach you how to make your first beer in a few (six?) chapters but also is a great reference as you get deeper into the hobby.

If you are a Costco member and not in a hurry, they usually have a very good deal on a nice FoodSaver unit once or twice a year (unit offered varies, but the two that I have work great).
