Second Batch -- Tank 7 Clone Kit

Yup. Mine I bet was 80 degrees plus with it being the heat of the summer here in New England. Everyone says saisons love heat so... Just noticed that the other bottle I took out...another one where I was mining the bottom of the bucket...has TONS of sediment in it. So early on here, I'm not...

Second Batch -- Tank 7 Clone Kit

Exactly 7 weeks. Was in the carboy for 5+ weeks. Temp controlled to not go below 75 degrees F. Reading some other Tank 7 clone threads I see that some let theirs sit FOREVER.

Second Batch -- Tank 7 Clone Kit

Yeah, I'm hopeful time is what it needs. This is a higher gravity beer so I think it will need more time. I have no problem popping one or two each week and letting the lion's share sit. I've got plenty of other beer to drink lol.

Second Batch -- Tank 7 Clone Kit

Well, I'm 9 days into bottle conditioning. Decided to sample one. Also had a Tank 7 alongside to compare. Wow. Funky! I drank the worst bottle as a start. This one was only half full and definitely had some sediment in there. I figured I'd start with this one and hope I set the bar low as...

Batch #1 -- Early Sampling Results

Why? I actually just cracked another one of these IPAs. They continue to sit and condition and when I expect I'll drink some I stick them in the fridge. There's no doubt that time conditioning has improved this thing.

Batch #1 -- Early Sampling Results

Yeah, I hear you on the Trillium comparison. I actually did a blind taste test comparing my IPA vs. Founder's All Day IPA and Alpine's Hoppy Birthday. I was able to pick mine out but I thought it was in the same ballpark. Ironically, I think I may be finding out I may not like overly bitter IPAs...

Batch #1 -- Early Sampling Results

Well, I just brought some of my first batch over to my local homebrew store guys. They offer to taste your beer and see what off flavors may exist and probe your process to help determine what may have went wrong. Four guys looked at it, smelled it, and tasted it. So I fully expected them to...

    Ward's Labs Water Test

In a thread a couple years ago Martin, who seems to be the water expert around here, recommends the 6 test since I guess you don't need phosphorus. So maybe I save a few bucks and get that: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=544531

    Ward's Labs Water Test

Ok so I want to test my water before I get into batch #3. I want to check off this box and make sure my water isn't an issue. So I'm here ready to order: https://producers.wardlab.com/pay/order-brewers-kit.php?step=1&op=kit I see three options for purchasing: * W-5A Brewer's test...

    Oxygenating Beer

This may be a huge "ah ha" moment for me. You're telling me that there are fermenters that already have the spigot and I don't need to use a racking cane? And there's a dip tube inside that will minimize crud getting through?? If this is the case, I don't know why other carboys/buckets exist.

    Oxygenating Beer

Been looking for a bigger fermenter and one that avoids using the narrow neck. So these come with the dip tube already in there? From other threads, it sounded like many people rig theirs up somehow.

    Oxygenating Beer

Hope you're right. I really left a lot of beer on the table because of paranoia. Bet there were 3-5 12 oz beers left in there, but the sediment was all agitated after hitting the bottom too many times with the racking cane and I just felt that too much sediment would get in there. Still...

    Oxygenating Beer

What's the Zymurgy issue clone? No, this was from a recipe kit and it was extract. Several people on my other thread indicated that this would most definitely NOT taste like a tank 7. You can see the recipe here...

    Oxygenating Beer

So I just bottled my Tank 7 clone and if I have any concern about this batch, it's about oxygenating the beer as I siphoned it to the bottling bucket. A couple of things went on here: 1. My eyesight isn't great so I have a hard time looking through the carboy and judging if my racking cane is...

Second Batch -- Tank 7 Clone Kit

Well, just dry hoped yesterday. Just dumped them in and plan on putting a paint strainer bag around my racking cane. We'll see how it works out. And of course, my narrow neck dry hopper shows up right after I just dumped the hops in! Always next time. Had a fly infestation in my basement...

My Brewing Water -- PH Reading -- Good or No?

Would you worry based on the data provided above from the town water reports?

My Brewing Water -- PH Reading -- Good or No?

Still very confused. A lot of data here and I'll have to do a whole lot more research on water to understand all this. Still don't have a read on if this is a problem I should worry about for extract brewing or not. Hell, when I first got into this I kept reading/hearing that "if it's...

My Brewing Water -- PH Reading -- Good or No?

Correct. I'm only on my 2nd extract and would expect to continue to do extracts until I feel like I've nailed it. So on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being no problem at all and 10 being a huge problem, how big of a problem is the chlorine? And to what degree could this be causing off flavors in...
