Apparently in my case, the paks are actually free. According to response from Picobrew: "Specifically checking your address, shipping a single Pak actually runs us roughly $73, well over the $39 we charge.":eek::eek:

Yeah, I emailed them when I saw it. I wonder if it is a mistake though, since it isn't wildly off from where it was before, and it comes a year after they servicing customers worldwide (a re-assessment?). The initial estimates were way off during the kickstarter (like $80 a pak or something...

Going to try the Blut, but wow (not to turn this into a personal bitchfest, but) at some point in the last month they bumped the international shipping significantly. It is now $39 for one pak, $51 for two, $74 for three, $74 for four (???), $113 for five, $125 for six to Japan. Four paks used...

Actually just started drinking this one (purchased during the Octoberfest sale). While a solid, bitter beer, it's not the citrus/floral-type IPA that the Pico excels at delivering fresh. If you live near a store with bottled/canned craft beer, I wouldn't bother brewing this one.

Just 25% off this year? Well, isn't everything already 25% off using that coupon?

Does anyone remember when the 12 days of Christmas promotion ran last year? I figure to watch that daily for the 50% off paks and then use the picofriends25 at the end of the month if something I still wanted didn't get discounted.

I had an order go two months before shipping, so I contacted them and they said they had QC issues with the Kermode IPA that held it up. If it is a couple of weeks, an email usually does the trick. I typically get orders to my door in Japan within 10 days of pushing the order button. BTW, my...

I am not on FB, but I did get some of those offers by email. Only Day 2 and Day 5 strangely, and the rest were not in my spam folder, so I had no idea what was going on. For the last several months there have been 20% off select picopak promotions what seems like every other week, and it helps...

I don't have a hydrometer, but the consensus seems to be that the pico isn't hittin OG (at least for pico-brand beers that list the target OG and FG) and I started to wonder if this isn't down to the design of the packs themselves. I have been baking with the used grains immediately after...

Since bottling using the spigot on the serving kegs is not optimal, I was thinking about getting a bottling wand myself. Does anyone know the diameter of the thin end of the racking tube they included with the Pico? I thought I might get one to attach to that.

For me I have had good results with stirring a sanitized whisk vigorously for about 45 seconds then pitching yeast, and shaking the sealed keg for another 30 seconds. In the winter I was using snow in a bucket of water to cool the keg down to room temperature, but now I am using a stream near...

They sell the unit in Japan, a bit more expensive, so it was the other alternative I was seriously thinking of. I have 40 liters of "boxed water" being filled, so I too will have clean water on hand for tea/coffee/cooking going forward. Even the first 4 liter boil left visible residue in the...

Although not something I had planned on when this all started, I got a water distiller for about $100 and it seems to solve a big piece of the puzzle. 5 hours boil time gives me a clean 4 liter pitcher, and I think that works out to about $0.10 per liter via electricity cost. Considering RO...

It's great how you managed to re-use the regulator and make use out of the dispensing keg. Since many of us must have a number of the serving kegs from the kickstarter, and since they haven't changed their serving "solution," something like your setup would certainly help Picobrew's cause...

I will try this on my next few since I too have had nothing but trouble following the manual recommendation of 36 hours at ~24psi then pulling back to 3~4 PSI for dispensing. That approach leaves me with either geyser straight into the glass for foam city, or hard against the side for a pint...

If I were in your shoes I would grab two of the brewing keg bundles, ferment with those four (for the easy clean) and use the 5 ball-locks for carbing/serving. For beers like Not Yet-IE you could then keg condition for months in your ball-lock keg to mature the flavor without impacting your...

I see they responded that the new brew kegs won't work for forced carb dispensing, so the "if you prefer" option is all but mandatory for anyone who doesn't have a kegerator with 1.7 gallon kegs on standby. The time required to get a brew ready to drink without off-flavors (ie the...

When I saw that $500 option, I knew one person who would certainly be backing it :mug: Just thinking on that, with four brew kegs you could easily pipeline 8 picopaks a month (as long as somebody is around to help drink it!), or 96 a year. Every dinner party, picnic, BBQ, ect. That comes to...

Speaking of promotional videos, does anyone know the backstory of what happened with Dogfish Head?

If this were 5 gallon batches I could see bottling being tedious, but given the Pico only puts out 14~16 I haven't found it that onerous. Since brewing supplies are limited in my corner of the world, I have been using the serving keg to bottle (with sugar tabs) and so far no contamination or...
