Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

I just took an early sample of the last batch with a lot of vic secret and it's much closer. Like a planters punch beer

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

This latest batch I did half Irish ale malt. Quarter US 2 row. Quarter Marris Otter for the base malts. Getting nice breadiness, color, and head retention. I've been doing citra, galaxy vic secret and cashmere for a Greenish clone although I understand Galaxy is going to be really hard to...

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

Has anyone bought Treehouse lately? I was there last Thursday. Bought a bunch of Julius and Green and I'm very disappointed. Bitter and not one hint of bubblegum in any that I've had. I had a similar experience a couple of months ago but not nearly this bad.

    Treehouse Julius

Honestly I wouldn't trade until they get their act together with the new facility. I spent nearly $140 yesterday on Julius and Green and it's not very good. Bitter and no bubblegummy taste that they;re known for. If they weren't an hour away I'd see if I could return it.

    Fruit Beer Requiem Raspberry

I did this with a mix of red and black homegrown raspberries. It was delicious and the color was awesome

German Pils Tiber's Premium Pils (1st Place German style Pilsner)

I'm going to brew this Saturday. Could you please explain this? "2 weeks @ 66F (includes diacetyl rest + warm conditioning + carbonation time)" Do I just rest it at 66 or is there anything else I need to do? I think this means you have simplified the D rest but just wanted to make sure. Also...

New England IPA Julius clone (BYO magazine)

Yeah the 8ml hopshot is way too much. I've been lowering the amount each time. I'm down to 3 ml now

    Keg to bottle carb question

I have two kegs of different NEIPA's in my kegerator. I want to send some bottles to a friend. I have a Blichmann beer gun. Keg #1 is fully carbed and at peak flavor. It's good to go. Keg #2 was force carbed four days ago @ 30PSI and now is at serving pressure but not quite fully carbed. My...

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

Im sure this has been asked before so forgive me if it has. Is it possible to do the similar testing to determine hop or grain varieties?

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

@rappinduke I totally agree with the subdued flavor at the Charleton plant. I was there two weeks ago and got Doubleganger which blew my mind similar to the way doppleganger did at the Monson local. It's almost like the Doubleganger, Very Green, Very Hazy and JJJulius are replacing their...

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

I ordered some Cashmere. How much and when did you add? I'm doing 5 gallons tomorrow. Won't make it to boil or whirlpool but should have by dh time

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

Yes Thurs and Fri will definitely get you more selection. Just might be a lot of Bright and Lights On which IMO aint worth the drive. I've also learned from experience that unless you're sharing getting a case of one thing at a time isn't worth it. TH tastes a lot different after a week or...

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

As long as there isn't a canning line snafu or you don't get there late on a Saturday you should be good. Especially if it's Lights Out or Bright. Always plenty of that ha

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

When I was a kid Bubblicious used to make a banana bubblegum. Maybe that would describe the flavor better. I grabbed some Doubleganger last week. Now the strength of that flavor is exponential.

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

Was lucky enough to grab some Double and Doppleganger today. Only 6 cans of each allotted with 12 cans of BBBright which did just a little bit more for me than regular Bright. Those will be given to guests Sunday or Eagles fans I bet with in case of a Pats loss. This Doubleganger though...

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

On my second week in the keg with the 82/15/3 ratio. 6.5 gallons went into the fermenter, 9 grams of S-04/ 1.65 grams of T-58/.4 grams WB06 all pitched together. My best beer yet. Was shooting for a green clone but LHBS didn't have any galaxy so I used vic secret, citra, and mosaic

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

I rousted the last batch (used 1318) and I won't do it again. I think I got some off flavors from the crusties formed on the sides of the carboy.
