    South Carolina LHBS in Charleston, SC for grain?

    I'm going to be traveling to Charleston at the end of the month for a work meeting and figured I'd pick up a bag or two of grain, so I don't have to deal with shipping to Sumter. Of the LHBS's in Charleston, which is better (price, selection, freshness) for bulk grain?

    Great efficiency or boiled too long?

    I brewed a maibock today and it was a great brew day. Recipe figured 75% efficiency and a 6 gallon batch size with a OG of 1.068. I wound up with 5 gallons in the fermenter and an OG of 1.080.     1272 vs 1056

    Curious what people's experience with Wyeast 1272 is in comparison to 1056. I know 1056 is an old battle horse that has served well for a long time, but it sounds like 1272 finishes a bit cleaner with a tighter turb layer less likely to stir during transfer and it tends to attenuate more. It...
