how about a meme generator thread...

I tried my best to formulate a cheeky response to this, but after trying to work "standing" and "falling" into where we eventually find ourselves, I got lost. Although 'falling' to reason kinda insinuates that one falls, hits one's head, and sees reason after being pummelled into submission by...

    Don't Do That.

All of my kegs are cornies, so don't really have a setup to recirculate unless I want to buy more stuff. Shaking every few minutes worked just great. The leftover solution did a number on my plate chiller though, lots of brown flakes came out of it after only 30 minutes recirculation each way...

    Don't Do That.

Here's one that might be good for the noobs. You've maybe read about this lovely stuff called PBW (powdered brewery wash); relatively cheap, and advertised as great for cleaning your equipment. You may have looked at the price and thought, oh heck no, I can do just as well with storebought...

What I did for beer today

So that was yesterday. Today I'm finally doing something I should have done a long time ago; giving the empty kegs a good soak with hot PBW, to get rid of the crud on the inside that no amount of scrubbing will remove. First time using PBW, hoping for good things. Will also use it on the carb...

What I did for beer today

Yesterday finally pulled up my big girl pants, and tested the WF lager I brewed on Monday; that was the poopiest poopshow of a brewday that I've had in a long time. (See Don't Do That for details). It's not my best, but nothing off and no infection. Set it to crash last night, and will get it...

how about a meme generator thread...

Given that coriander is the seed of the cilantro plant, and cilantro tastes like soap, it falls to reason that there may very well be coriander on Uranus. If you're into cleanliness and such, that is. At least this made sense to me at the time.

    Don't Do That.

Bittering hood? Is that yet another new gizmo that I will have to get??? Oh it got bittering hops, and late hops, which after boiling again probably turned into MORE bittering hops, so this got bittering hops to the nth degree. It's taking off this morning, under pressure so it should be...

    Don't Do That.

This is going to be a rough one to write. Kicking myself still, a few hours later. Been a weird weekend for work, mainly due to the fact that the system our omniscient leaders make us use crashed big time Friday night. Just came back up today, but not without several sessions with Tech...

What I did for beer today

Not really FOR beer, but ABOUT beer. Taking our Rad bikes on a trip today, taking the Snoqualmie Valley Trail up to Carnation to visit two breweries we haven't been to yet (yes there ARE breweries we haven't been to yet, amazing). Will post pics and stuff later.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Tomorrow I get a work from home day because the customer I do cross-dock for isn't getting deliveries this Saturday; so tonight I will be milling grain, and prepping water, for a Kona Golden Ale kinda clone. Found the recipe here on HBT. I don't have any Galaxy so it will be all Citra hops, of...

    Not-So-Obnoxious Baseball Thread

Well since I seem to be one of the few posting in this thread....Cal gets # 50 last night and happens to be one of the humblest players I've seen in my many years of watching this sport. Love to see it. Also lending his name and image to a small local plumbing company, a' la Marshawn Lynch and...

What I did for beer today

Today finally got results for the Puyallup Fair entries. Lager got third (not surprised, wasn't my best), Pale got a second. And the Porter that I brewed back at the end of March, and just let sit, got a First! Don't have the scores yet (won't until I go pick up the ribbons in 2 weeks). Only...

What I did for beer today

Not to derail the thread, but VW despite some great engineering had some stupid ideas. Had a 2002 Passat until about 3 years ago that required pulling the front end out just to replace the serpentine belt. Glad I got rid of the thing. Although I can now pull the front end without looking at...

What I did for beer today

Ok I get a double whammy today. Last week brewed up the House NEIPA which is just about the simplest recipe ever; 12lbs two row mashed about 152, no hops until 5 minutes then again at flameout, and a biggish dry hop. All hops are even Citra/Sabro, and fermented on Imperial Kveiking very warm...
