What I did for beer today

Oh yah, what I did for beer/mead today. Brewing up a blonde that will ferment on kveik, in the house. Also got my latest mead into the baby keg, now on force carb as I want it fizzy. Managed to get a sweet mead for the first time in several batches, I do like it dry but this one is for the...

What I did for beer today

Update to this one; after letting the keg sit in the house for a week, a few days ago got it back in the kegerator. Chilled, and carbed. It's not my best beer ever, but the cloying sweetness is gone and it's a drinkable beer. yay. Now, was it the yeast, or just letting it offgas in the warm...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

In my ongoing quest to figure out just what the hell is going wrong with my lighter beers, brewing up a blonde on some kveik yeast slurry I have. The NEIPA I brew is the only beer that is turning out well lately, and it's done on that yeast; so we shall see.

    Best line from a song

'She ain't a beauty but she's all right...' Bruce Springsteen, Thunder Road. I wasn't considered attractive growing up (still not so much) so when I DID have a boyfriend, this line meant a lot to me. Yes I know kinda depressing.

What I did for beer today

Brewing up the only beer I've been able to do well lately, the House NEIPA with Citra/Mosaic. The other day I dosed the corn lager I brewed two weeks ago with some champagne yeast; wound up too sweet so I'm hoping for some dryness. Will get that back in the kegerator and carbing in a while.

    The "Dear" , "Sincerely" thread

Dear Gut of Mine, Okay okay okay. So it IS my delicious yeasty beer that I've been brewing the past 7 years that has caused your 'issues'. Took the depleted pipeline, as well as the 30-pack of the only store-bought 'lite' beer that I can stomach to figure that out (I did NOT drink the whole...

    Random Drunken Thoughts Thread

How apropos as I'm brewing today. Quick question: is it wrong of me to keep adjusting the mash temperature in my brewvision app, to match what's actually the temperature of the mash, just to shut up the alarm? Instead of physically getting up from comfy chair (and HBT) and adjusting the...

What I did for beer today

In keeping with the general theme of how this week is going (awful), just tasted the Wit I brewed last Saturday. Apparently something was wrong with the yeast, and I just inadvertently created a sour. Not acetaldehyde, I know what that tastes like; more like sour patch kids but not as strong...

What I did for beer today

Today being the first day I've actually felt well enough to do something, brewing up another batch of IPA. Just tapped the last one last Friday, but it's been such a great hydration drink this week while I was sick that it's going fast. Had some horrible news on Wednesday; a dear friend, my...

    Floating Dip Tube Foamer

I've had the same issue with mine; just one stainless nut added to the tubing did the trick. Until you forget it on kegging and have to risk oxygenation by opening the keg and adding later after getting nothing but foam. Still tastes good though.

    Let's Raise a Glass to @Bracconiere

It's the day! Later I'm going to crack a bottle of my mead (as it's the simplest thing I make) and drink a toast to our friend. Right now I'm toasting him with theraflu since I had to go and come down with the covid on Sunday. Salut!!!!

What I did for beer today

Recap of the last few days: Saturday: Group brewday, had a lovely time, my best brewfriend did his very first all-grain brew and did it well. As it was his retirement party, I gifted him my spare 15g HLT so he can keep on with it. I've got a 12g kettle that will do for an HLT when I need it...

What I did for beer today

I'm drinking a Modelo right now that the husband foolishly left in the fridge. I might have to try this recipe, fortunately my scale speaks metric. However I must ask, what is Ashbeck? I know Tesco from youtube.
